NEW TESTAMENTS ARRIVE IN VILLAGE

Two men carrying a 116 pound box of New Testaments on a pole.

November 4, 2009

by David Bell

Thirty-one plywood boxes, each containing 64 Higaunon New Testaments, arrived safely in the village last week.

It was a much speedier shipment than missionaries had previously experienced. Normally it can take two to four weeks to get put on a boat in Manila for shipping to Mindanao, but the boxes were on a ship headed to the island the next day after arrival in Manila.

A Filipino pastor offered to transport the boxes to a drop-off point about four miles from the village. Two men then carried each box, weighing about 116 pounds, the remaining distance over a trail that descended 1,000 feet.

The Higaunon people are now binding the New Testaments to get them ready for their Thanksgiving service Nov. 14. They are rejoicing that the Lord got the shipment there in time for them to work on them. They hope to have as many as possible bound before the service.
