New Light in Papua New Guinea
Though we serve as educators for the missionary children, our main purpose for being here is to allow the Light of the gospel to be shared in those places where it has seldom been shared. Here are the words of Mpumbar, a man who recently heard the gospel in his tribe.
"I have been in my garden looking around me and thinking how good God is. I am so glad about this new contract that God has made. The first contract he made with us, nobody has been able to keep. We have all missed God’s mark for going to heaven on our own. His new contract is so good. He sent us his own Son and Jesus willingly died for my sin and he paid my sin debt for me. I couldn’t do it, but He did. He took big pain for me and he died so I wouldn’t have to. I am so happy about that. Now, the hard work is finished. He said it was all done and now we can just say “Thank you” and know that he will deliver us from our sin and take us to heaven because we have heard his talk and we are “hanging on God”. It is so good you all have come with God’s talk. We were so messed up before with all the things we believed and we worshiped the spirits. Now we can see that that was wrong and we are so happy to know about Jesus.”
In Mpumbar’s life, a new Light has dawned and new life has begun. That is what we are all about!
Numonohi Christian Academy Patrick's 20 years of teaching experience has been excellent preparation for providing leadership in the elementary school while also teaching the variety of courses he has at NCA. While supporting and encouraging the teachers and families, he also teaches Bible and Math. In addition to teaching, Patrick helps with the middle grades sports program, discipleship groups, and worship leadership. Dawn serves as a coordinator for the homeschool program. All tribal missionaries homeschool their children until they are old enough to enter the boarding program (about age 12). Dawn helps to provide these families with resources and support to enable them to provide a quality education for their children. Recently she also received training to provide educational therapy to students with learning difficulties. Starting this year she will serve as a therapist in the Discovery program at the school. Our prayer is to be used by God to share His light in this place, to allow His life to be experienced by many more people. We are glad to be a part of the team works to that end. |
