TH 225: Soteriology
The study of salvation (soteriology) increases understanding of such truths as substitution, redemption, ransom, propitiation, forgiveness and atonement.
TH 226: Pneumatology
The study of the Holy Spirit (pneumatology) focuses on such qualities as the Holy Spirit’s deity, personality, indwelling, baptism, sealing, filling, signs and miracles, gifts and teaching. Learning to walk in the Spirit is emphasized.
TH 227: Angelology
The study of angels (Angelology) will cover the creation, existence, nature, and purpose of angels, along with their relationship to God and man. It will also look at the person and fall of Satan (Satanology), the fall and existence of fallen angels (Demonology), and summarize the relationship of Satan and demons to a fallen world and their place in regard to spiritual warfare issues related to Christian living.
BI 231: Romans
The justification and sanctification of man by God. Provision for man’s sin is studied in depth through the doctrines of substitution, redemption, reconciliation, imputed righteousness, propitiation, guilt and justification. Understanding the grace of God increases as eternal security and the ministry of the Holy Spirit are discussed.
BI 238: 2 Corinthians
2 Corinthians looks at the reasons for suffering, church discipline, the contrast of the Old and the New Covenant, the judgment seat of Christ and the New Testament teaching on giving.
BI 235: Hebrews
The superiority of Christ is highlighted. The priesthood, sanctuary, covenant and sacrifice of Christ are studied. Five warning passages are examined in relation to the security of the believer. The issues of faith, rest and walking by faith are emphasized, while the foundations of the New Testament that are found in the Old Testament are addressed. Other themes include bitterness, prayer, hospitality, thankfulness and suffering.
BI 232: Galatians
The believer’s position of liberty in Christ is discussed, as well as problems of legalism. The indwelling of the Spirit, fruit of the Spirit and walking in the Spirit are addressed, as is sanctification. The believer’s position and condition are covered extensively along with an overview of liberty, law and grace.
BI 234: Ephesians
Attention to the believer’s position in Christ and its practical outworking in daily relationships: husband-wife, employer-employee, parent-child, and believer-Satan. The relationship of the Holy Spirit and the believer in salvation is addressed. The mystery of the church is also discussed.
BI 236: James/Jude
Students will be able to examine the books of James and Jude with regard to each of their respective themes. Special emphasis will be placed on historical background, theological views of the relationship between faith and works, and the authors' call of Christians to be active in service for heavenly rewards.
BI 237: 1 and 2 Peter
This course will give the student an overview of both epistles of Peter. An emphasis will be made on suffering in the life of the believer in relation to him being a stranger and pilgrim on the earth, and he will gain a greater appreciation of his eternal inheritance. The believer will also gain a greater awareness of the danger posed by false teachers, and the importance of standing firm in the faith. Finally, this course will address some of the problem passages in both epistles.
SO 228: Family Relationships
A study of biblical standards for the Christian family. God’s original plan for marriage and the roles of men and women in marriage are addressed. Inherent differences between men and women are explored, as well as the concepts of leaving and cleaving, finances, communication, sexuality, and dating.
MI 223: Introduction to New Tribes Mission
New Tribes Mission’s history and work are explored, along with relevant information about the training programs, organizational structure and daily operations. NTM’s Statement of Faith is considered, along with the mission’s philosophies and practices as they pertain to leadership styles and teamwork.
BI 244: Ruth/Song of Solomon/Ecclesiastes
Biblical principles of love and marriage are found in the Song of Solomon, and the bankruptcy of humanism, materialism and man’s wisdom in Ecclesiastes. God’s provision for two ordinary people during a turbulent period of Jewish history is evident in the book of Ruth.
MI 252: Missions in Church History
The evangelical spread of Christianity is observed from the early church in Acts throughout the first century. Movements that impacted missions are studied such as the formalizing of the church, the Roman Catholic Church, the Protestant Reformation and the resulting missions-minded individuals and agencies, culminating in the modern-day church age.
EV 258: World Religions
The basic belief structures of the major religions of Judaism, Buddhism, Hinduism, Islam, Catholicism and Shintoism are introduced with the goal of enhancing understanding and ability to communicate the Gospel in a multicultural world. The foundations of New Age thinking are identified.
EV 155: Christian Apologetics
This course is a brief study of selected evidences for the Christian faith with an emphasis on critical thinking skills. Topics studied will include the reliability of Scripture, the existence of God, the Resurrection and the Intelligent Design movement.
