For many years the job of working with missionaries Tom and Corinne Palmer to translate Scripture has fallen to two Hamtai men -- Malcolm and Esek. Now others have joined the team to complete a revision of the Hamtai New Testament.

A group of Hamtai men from various areas in Papua New Guinea are spending a month away from their homes to check and finalize the work that Malcolm and Esek have done.

In December the men will return to their villages and check the translation with various people and age groups to see how clearly it speaks to the people.

"They want to make sure the translation is clear to all and find where they might need to make changes to make any given passage more clear," the Palmers wrote.

When the men left their homes they brought several bags of food with them -- hopefully a month's supply. They usually eat two meals a day, morning and evening.

They showed up to work on the translation one day this week without eating and also brought nothing with them for lunch.

"We asked them if their food was all gone and the money spent," the Palmers wrote. "They said, 'No,' they still had more but they wanted to make it last through the month. It shows the extent of sacrifice they are willing to go to in order to help with this project."

Please pray for the team as they work. A few of the men have not been feeling well.

"Pray we will all get enough rest during our current heavy schedule. Pray that interruptions will be kept to a minimum so we can accomplish our monthly goals," the Palmers wrote.
