BIBLES COME BY RIVER

It was encouraging to see Victorino reading his Bible.

Tears of joy were abundant as the first box of Bibles in the Naso language was opened last week at a dedication ceremony in Panama.

God provided a beautiful, sunny day for the occasion. The nice weather made the trip much easier for many Nasos coming by trail or by boat. Fifteen boatloads of people and boxes of Bibles arrived by the river route.

All of the visitors were officially welcomed during a two-hour ceremony that included the singing of Naso songs and the recognition of all who have been involved in the ministry through the years.

After the ceremony, the missionaries were encouraged to see Victorino and Simon reading their Bibles and producing an occasional sigh of contentment and happiness.

Elderly Seledonia could only hope that some day soon she will be able to read the Scriptures. She has never learned to read, but with the acquisition of some reading glasses is now being taught to read by missionary Lavonne Challinor.

"Please pray that many, many Naso folks will have a spiritual hunger for the Bread of Life now available to them," wrote missionaries Don and Pat Barger.

Pray that the availability of God's Word will produce growth among the believers and further evangelism of the Naso people.
