Missionary trainees Tom and Beth Carlton visited Cambodia earlier this year to answer some questions about their future ministry.
"Our trip to Cambodia was eye-opening," wrote Tom. "Our purpose for the expedition was mainly exposure to the culture, research of potential mission work locations and logistics, answering unanswered questions about NTM's uniqueness in the country and lastly, but most importantly, confirmation of this being where the Lord is truly leading us for career missionary service."
At times Tom and Beth were totally discouraged. The vastness of the task was overwhelming. They were aware that the ministry in Cambodia was new, but did not realize how hard it would be. "Being told this and seeing for yourself are two different things," Tom reported.
However, their time with NTM missionaries working in Cambodia was very encouraging. "This, we believe," wrote Tom, "was because of their heart for the Gospel, heart for the people of Cambodia and a conviction that the Lord is going to use them to reach the unreached peoples of Cambodia, no matter the circumstances standing in the way."
Tom and Beth returned home convinced that God was directing them to minister in Cambodia. They will soon complete their training and plan to arrive in Cambodia next fall.
Pray that Tom and Beth will continue their path toward a ministry among the people of Cambodia and that they will remain encouraged by what the Lord is doing there.
