The Inanbimali believers in Papua New Guinea are eager to begin their song writing.
After learning that they can praise God with songs, "there [was] a real fire in their hearts and a burning desire to praise Jesus who saved them from death," Tim Shontere wrote.
One believer, Robert, wrote a song about Jesus and the missionaries and Inanbimalis sang it together at the believers meeting:
Jesus, Jesus, Jesus You have come up to be my sacrificial sheep Father, you thought of us and that's why you sent Jesus for us They killed you because of all of us (everyone) The Cross, the blood, you carried it all.
"Robert was elated to share it with the group and since then has been writing other songs to sing," Tim wrote. "Others have been writing songs as well and we look forward to singing them too."
The believers are overjoyed with the idea of singing together as a way to worship God. Tim and the other missionaries shared with the Inanbimali believers that singing songs of worship is a way believers can focus on God and be thoughtfully engaged with Him.
The Inanbimalis are also learning more about the significance of God's Word and how it applies to their lives.
In a lesson on the Tabernacle, the Inanbimalis noticed that the Holy Spirit was given to Bezalel to build the Tabernacle.
"One of the questions was, 'Why didn't everyone else get it too?'" Tim wrote. "We taught how the Holy Spirit came upon King Saul, but King Saul did not follow God's commands and therefore, took back the Holy Spirit. This was a huge point to the [Inanbimalis]."
Some of the people have heard from other groups that God's Spirit was given to save people, but to also control them as their custom is to believe that a black power controls them.
The missionaries shared that the Holy Spirit came upon the people of the Old Testament, but they did not lose their free will. "They couldn't figure out how Saul could have the Holy Spirit and yet still turn to his own ways," Tim wrote. "It was amazing as we continued teaching and [saw] the lights [coming] on."
Please pray that the Inanbimali believers will continue to praise God with joy and singing. Also pray that they will continue to study His Word and gain a better comprehension of it.
