Last month a group of Yanomami believers in Brazil hiked for days through the jungle to meet with other Yanomamis in several remote villages.
Two of the villages were very interested but were terrified to listen to God's Word because they had been told that the group would kill them. The believers assured them that these were lies and that they would love to share God's Word with them. The village leaders then agreed to come to hear evangelistic lessons.
The believers then met with men from several villages who had been spreading the rumors and lies and boldly told them they must stop. They told them they wanted to be friendly and would like them to hear God's message also. Please pray that God will work in the hearts of these men and that they will stop hindering others from hearing God's Word.
Missionary Mike Hartman wrote that Levi, a powerful witch doctor in the village where the believers live, has begun coming to hear the teaching. Mike invited him to a meeting on Sunday evening. Surprisingly, he showed up. Levi came in and sat with Mike and listened attentively to the message.
"In the opening prayer and then in the sermon, the pastor made reference to him particularly mentioning that it was the Holy Spirit that brought him to the meeting," Mike wrote. "He said that we couldn't do what God does in people's hearts, that God loves Levi even though He doesn't love his witchcraft. He said that God is still leaving the door open, His son, Jesus Christ, for all the Yanomamis that would like to be saved but that there will come a time when it will be too late. There will be no chance for all those that didn't accept while God was still being patient and merciful. Levi listened without any comment."
Mike invited him again and he came the next week. Pray that Levi will continue to listen to God's Word and will trust Christ as his Savior. Pray also that the Yanomamis in remote villages will come to the meetings, listen to God's Word and be saved.
