One by one the Lord is adding to the Dinangat church in Papua New Guinea since evangelistic Bible lessons concluded last week.
"I was rebuked in my heart," wrote missionary Gary Smith, "for idolizing a certain type of response from the people and the Lord challenged me to sacrifice my ideas to Him. … Now what He is showing us is that this response is better than a huge emotional mob movement."
Since the lesson about Jesus dying on the cross, the missionary team has heard person after person praising and thanking God for doing an incredible thing on their behalf.
"Many have told us that they know they have been in darkness for so long, but now they know the truth," wrote Jeremiah Markley.
"Before, I was in Satan's family," said Peso, "but now we know that Jesus died for our sins. I know I can't do anything to be put into God's family. [It's] only by belief in what Jesus did. Only He can save us."
Kombu said, "I believed in God and Jesus, but I didn't understand how to wash my sin away. Now I see that Jesus washed it away by dying on the cross for my sin. I am not able to do it, but because of what He did I can go to God when I die. I'm just so happy about this."
"Today I don't worry anymore," said Felix. "I know that it's because of what Jesus did for me that I'll go to God."
Bau said, "My head is just breaking open as I think about what Jesus did for me. Thank you God."
"Before you all came," Takido said to the missionaries, "we were living in sin and were going to die and go to hell. But now we understand that God sent Jesus to die for our sin so that we can be saved. That's what I know is true. God is true."
Please pray that God will continue to work in the hearts of the Dinangat people, bringing them to an even greater understanding of the life He has for them.
