Missionaries Paul and Marina Briggs visited literacy clinics in several Loron villages in Ivory Coast recently.
Three small villages, miles off the main road and accessible only by motorbike, had been holding literacy classes. They borrowed a motorbike from a Loron believer and Joel, the main literacy teacher, went with them to find the villages.
Loaded down with plenty of water and lots of sun cream, they negotiated twisty, gravel bike trails through beautiful mountains, scaled ravines and rode gingerly along rocky, dried up riverbeds. When they finally arrived, they found that in these remote villages, dozens of students were learning to read and write.
More than 180 Loron adults and teenagers in nine locations are now participating in the literacy course. Paul and Marina were delighted that the interest in learning to read and write has greatly increased over the last year. They are finding it difficult to keep up with the demand for reading materials.
This month Paul and Marina also distributed small solar powered radios, fixed to the local Christian radio station, to more than 300 Loron villages in Burkina Faso.
Pray that as more Loron people are able to read God's Word many lives will be changed by trusting in Christ. Pray also that the radio ministry will touch hearts and lives.
