Responding to invitations from two tribes in Papua New Guinea, a missionary team traveled over intimidating, rough seas to visit five tribal groups this month.
An Ata church elder, Wesley, accompanied missionaries Aaron Weatheral, Randy Wise and Aaron Luse on the five-day trip that took the team to 13 villages in the Islands Region.
As the missionaries explained why they would like to enter each tribe -- to learn the people's culture and language, translate the Bible and teach literacy and God's Word -- the reception in each village was the same.
"When is the soonest you can come? We need some help here. … We want a Bible in our own language and to be taught God's Word in our own language."
The missionaries are specifically praying about entering the Lak and Kandas tribes and will now wait for letters of invitation before taking the next step. Upon receipt of written invitations, a second survey will be done to determine an exact location to place a missionary team.
Please pray with the missionaries for God's direction.
