INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana: "The Kodiak is paid for!" teacher Molly Lawton announced Tuesday.
When the morning began, the third grade class at Heritage Christian School in Indianapolis was $11,000 short of their goal to purchase a Kodiak plane. At lunch time the parents of one student gave a pizza party for the class and presented them with a check for $10,000. Earlier in the day, another child told Molly that his parents were giving $1,000 to the Kodiak fund.
"Both Renee and I lost it," Molly wrote. "Many of the children just broke down and cried."
Ten-year-old Renee Anthony's enthusiasm for the Kodiak project started in January and evolved into a class project. The "Kodiak class" and their parents have worked together to see the goal met.
After the announcement children stood in line for more than 30 minutes waiting to call their parents to give them the news.
"We're all still pretty numb around here," wrote Molly. "What an awesome thing the Lord has done for us."
But the story is not over. The children want to keep going. A second account has been opened for another plane, and the children plan to continue their garage and donut sales, "and anything else the Lord wants to do," Molly wrote, until the school year ends in three weeks.
"All praise to Jesus for choosing to use these children to move hearts to give to the Lord's work," wrote Molly.
