"This is just what my team needs to hear!" exclaimed a Piapoco church leader recently, as missionaries took him through biblical principles of church planting.

He later called his missionary team of 14 together to study these principles, trusting that God will use His Word to encourage them to be even more committed and enthused to continue on in the ministry.

"We are awed by what the Lord is doing in the lives of the Piapoco teaching teams," the missionary shared. "These are just poor men who work hard to provide for their large families and who are not being paid in their missionary endeavors. They just trust God and move ahead, obedient to the Great Commission."

Some months ago, the team received letters from all 18 families of a prairie village, asking them to come and teach them God's Word. The team will be looking to the Lord for direction on just which of them should begin this new outreach.

In the next few weeks, the team leader and some of his co-workers will return to a village where they had already taught the Gospel, in order to ground the new believers in their position in Christ, and teach lessons from Acts, Romans, and Ephesians.

In the jungle area of the tribe, a new team of five Piapoco Bible teachers have also been burdened to reach out to a nearby village this year.

This week they will go to the missionaries' home for a time of extensive training and discipleship. These are always encouraging times for the missionaries to be able to have input in the lives of the Piapoco believers, who have volunteered to reach their people with the gospel.

"Along with all that is happening among the Piapoco Christian leaders," said the missionary, "we are excited to ask for prayer for still another team of Piapoco Bible teachers who will be expanding their horizons and begin teaching cross-culturally to another tribe."

The Achagua people have had a lot of exposure to Bible teaching in Spanish, but have never understood the Gospel message of God's grace. Achaguas have asked the Piapoco Bible teachers who are bilingual to teach them the message of salvation in their own language. This outreach is planned to begin in June.

Pray for the missionaries who will spend most of May training and discipling the new Piapoco team. Pray for the teams who are teaching believers in four Piapoco villages, and for the three new evangelistic outreaches.
