On a recent trip to a small coastal frontier town in Central Indonesia, missionary Doug Bergland stayed in a small inn run by a pastor and his family.
As Doug visited with him, Pastor Katili told of many areas within a two-day hike from the coastal road where there is no gospel witness.
"With tears in his eyes," wrote Doug, "he recounted his efforts to get there and to make a difference, only to be frustrated by sickness, language and cultural barriers, difficult terrain, and multiple other setbacks." But his eyes lit up when he learned of NTM's ministry and of the change that has occurred in the lives of tribal people in the north of Indonesia who now have the Gospel in their heart language. These tribal believers are now looking for opportunities to reach out to other communities on their island. NTM has a mere 63 missionaries serving in the central region of Indonesia with more than 240 tribal groups, many of which are still unreached.
Pray for more people like Pastor Katili, whose hearts are stirred by the overwhelming need of unreached tribal people. Pray for wisdom as missionaries seek to meet these needs despite the many challenges they face.
