Last week Drew and Bobbie Scholl and their three children arrived in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea, to begin their new ministry.
Drew wrote, "What we encountered upon our arrival was a reality check of the third world culture we would soon be living in. The sights, smells and sounds told us we weren't in Kansas (Indiana) anymore. We were definitely the center of attention amid hundreds of nationals standing around outside the airstrip terminal."
All 20 pieces of luggage arrived safely and the Scholls were able to strap them to a Land Rover and head for their new home where they will learn about the culture in Papua New Guinea.
"The kids love it here," Drew wrote. "They are thrilled with things like the variety of big beetles everywhere as well as small lizards."
After a month of orientation Drew and Bobbie plan to minister in the Interface program and will soon make a visit there to learn more about their future home. Drew will tackle the rough roads and driving on the left when they visit Interface. Every experience for new missionaries is a challenge and adventure.
"We are adjusting pretty well and are enjoying our time here so far," Drew wrote, "in spite of all we have left behind in the states.We really miss our family and friends but the Lord continues to give us strength and peace each day. His faithfulness and provision has been remarkable."
Pray for Drew and Bobbie and their children as they adjust to a new home and a new ministry.
