Church Planting
Curriculum Development (30) introduces the missionary candidates to important guidelines for implementing a Foundational Bible Teaching program in a cross-cultural setting among an unreached people group.
Church Phases (40)
- Evangelism (8) reviews the basics of the Foundational Bible Teaching program while introducing important
principles to be implemented during the initial phase of the FBT program.
- Beginning Church (8) presents the cultural opportunities and challenges facing new tribal believers during the
beginning stage of a new church.
- Developing Church (8) uses the early church in Acts as a model for the developing tribal church.
- Maturing Church (8) familiarizes the missionary candidates with the issues they will face in the process of
bringing an indigenous tribal church to maturity.
- Mature Church (8) presents a profile of a mature New Testament Church and possible indigenous forms which
accomplish the intended biblical functions.
Practical Ministry Skills (16) challenges the missionary candidates to consider how the principles learned in other
classes can be applied to their daily lives, particularly to their outreach and local church ministries.
CP Wrap-Up 3 (3) affords the missionary candidate the opportunity to bring together all prior training including
concepts and techniques entailed in establishing a New Testament church in animistic cultures.
Christian Living
Family in the Tribe (21) equips missionary candidates with sound principles of family life and function in a tribal
context.
Chapel (32) meets twice a week. Local pastors, visiting missionaries, faculty and missionary candidates share
during these chapel times.
Prayer Emphasis (42) provides a daily time for candidates and staff to pray for the worldwide ministries of NTM.
E-linc: equipping through listening, interacting, nurturing and challenging. (18) provides the advisor and candidate an opportunity to build a relationship and thus offers a platform to aid in equipping and training the candidate in spiritual qualities and ministry capabilities relative to ministry on the field.
Culture / Language Acquisition
CLA Practicum (103) gives missionary candidates the opportunity to apply the concepts and skills previously
introduced to regarding the NTM CLA program.
Semantics and Translation (20) introduces the principles and procedures of meaning-based translation, with special
emphasis on semantic structural analysis.
Phonemics (15) gives a basic introduction to issues involved in developing a tribal alphabet.
Literacy (15) helps the missionary candidate understand the essential role of a literacy program in the growth and development of the church.
Complementary Courses
Practical Skills (34) introduces the missionary candidates to various skills necessary for living and ministering in a
remote area.
