Church Planting
New Testament Church Principles 2 (16) introduces New Testament teachiing that provides foundational principles
evident in New Testament churches in any cultural context..
Folk Religions (12) introduces the basic tenets of Islam and Catholicism and the issues of ministering in an environment in which those tenets are syncretized with aspects of animism.. (Candidates take one or the other, depending on the area of the world in which they will be ministering..)
Practical Ministry Skills (14) challenges the missionary candidates to consider how the principles learned in other
classes can be applied to their daily lives, particularly to their outreach and local church ministries.
Church Planting Wrap-Up 2 (3) affords the missionary candidate the opportunity to bring together all prior training
including concepts and techniques entailed in establishing a New Testament church.
Christian Living
Growing in Grace (14) challenges the candidate to make personal application of the truths in Romans 5-8 and how
to use them in ministry.
Child Protection (12) addresses ways to recognize and prevent child abuse, and steps to take when allegations
arise.
Conflict Resolution (20) examines biblical principles for preventing and dealing with conflict within a team setting.
Living in Grace (12) challenges the candidate to make personal application of the truths in Romans 12-14 and how to use them in ministry.
Effective Parenting (14) presents biblical principles relating to the parent/child relationship and challenges parents to apply these truths for the benefit of the family.
Chapel (32) meets twice a week. Local pastors, visiting missionaries, faculty and missionary candidates share
during these chapel times.
Prayer Emphasis (42) provides a daily time for candidates and staff to pray for the worldwide ministries of NTM.
E-linc: equipping through listening, interacting, nurturing and challenging. (18) provides the advisor and candidate an opportunity to build a relationship and thus offers a platform to aid in equipping and training the candidate in spiritual qualities and ministry capabilities relative to ministry on the field.
Culture / Language Acquisition
CLA Methodology (56) gives the missionary candidates basic information about the nature of all cultures. It helps them understand how their own cultural upbringing will affect their ability to build relationships and interact effectively in a cross cultural setting. This course introduces the candidates to CLA processing tools, and techniques used to organize culture and language data.
Animism (20) teaches the basic premises of the animistic worldview in order to predict barriers that hinder a proper
understanding of God's Word.
Grammar (30) introduces grammatical concepts and terminology necessary for learning and understanding
languages outside the American English mindset.
Complementary Courses
International Health and Wellness (20) prepares missionary candidates in the areas of health,, wellness, prevention of disease and appropriate treatments. A primary focus is on empowering communities to improve their own health.
Missionary Technology (36) exposes the missionary candidate to the basics of solar and other alternative forms of
energy, water filtration and basic indoor plumbing which will make life and ministry in field settings more efficient.
Safety Seminar (24) increases the missionary candidate’s awareness of the risks affecting missions today, and provides practical tools for avoiding and faciing those risks in a biblical manner.
