PREPARING FOR A YOUTH CAMP (December 1, 2008)

Please pray:

- For Mike as he prepares 3 PowerPoints to teach at the youth camp the 3rd week of January.

- For our family as we will all be staying out at the camp for 5 days to interact with the youth and leaders.

- For an opportunity to build relationships with the approximately 300+ youth who will attend the 5-day missions training camp.

- For the youth, that they will be challenged into Tribal  missions and that some will desire to take the steps to becoming a tribal missionary.  


ACERCATE ACHE (December 1, 2008)

ACERCATE ACHE will be happening right after the youth camp and will last 2 weeks. We will be leading a team of 6 youth to an Ache tribal village to see tribal missions first-hand. 

Please pray:

- For Mike & Trisha as they prepare for the ACERCATE ACHE trip.

- For Mike & Trisha as they lead the team of 6 youth.

- For Michael, Lea, & Kaleb, who will also be going on the trip and as they adjust to a new living situation for 10 days.

- For safety as  we travel to the Ache village

- For good health for the Goddards and youth.

- For each member of the team to be challenged and to see how they too can be a part of tribal missions here in Paraguay and around the world.


LAST WEEK OF SCHOOL (November 17, 2008)

This week is Michael and Lea's last week of school until

the 2nd week of February. They will have a graduation ceremony at the end of the week.

Pray

  • that the kids will stay healthy this week.
  • for the graduation to go smoothly.
  • for Michael, who has a part in a play that evening. He will be dressed as a tree.
  • for Michael and Lea, who will be singing with their classes. 

Follow-up: We praise the Lord that our kids were all healthy the last week of school, and how much our kids have learned this past year in the Spanish Christian school. The graduation program  went very well. Michael received his Kindergarten diploma, did a wonderful job at playing the part of a tree in the play, and sang with his class. Lea sang 3 different songs with her class. Thanks for lifting our kids up before the throne in prayer!


BIBLE TRANSLATION IN PARAGUAY '08 (November 10, 2008)

Pray for Bible Translation in Paraguay:

  1. For the Bible translation projects in progress here in Paraguay.
  2. For the heroes of faith that are undertaking the huge task of translating the Bible! 
  3. For Translators for the Guaraní Ñandeva. 
  4. For wisdom as further investigation is done among the Pai Tavyterá, Ava Guaraní, Guaraní Occidental, Toba Qom, and Angaité. 
  5. For more laborers in the ministry of Bible translation, church planting, and literacy.

2ND PASTORS FORUM (November 6, 2008)

Please pray: For Mike as he prepares for the 2nd Pastor's Forum here in Asuncion. It will be held the last week of November, and there will be pastors from the community invited to this forum. It is a follow-up forum from the 1st Pastor's Forum that was held the beginning of October.

Follow-up: The 2nd Pastor's Forum was a great meeting to build relationships and get input from Paraguayan pastors, leaders, and missionaries from other organizations. We praise the Lord for how He has used these forums to bring people together and look forward to seeing what God will do in the future here in Paraguay!  


NATIONAL MISSIONS DAY FORUM (November 6, 2008)

Please pray for Mike & Trisha as they attend a National Missions Day Forum the 3rd week of November. They will be setting up a display with NTM Paraguay materials as well as have an opportunity to visit with individuals throughout the day.

Follow-up: The 1st National Missions Day Forum was an exciting event to attend. Mike had an opportunity to share for 10 minutes about tribal missions here in Paraguay and around the world.  At the day-long event, there were missionaries, pastors, and individuals all desiring to serve God in missions whether in Africa, in South America, or in their own neighborhood right here in Paraguay.


KIDZ HAVE COLDS (November 5, 2008)

Pray for our kids as they have colds.

1. Kaleb continues to have a bad cough.

2. Lea has a fever, earache, pink eye, and stomach ache.

Update: Michael had a bad cough, but thankfully, he is over it now. But Lea, just became sick last night.

Praise: the kids are all healthy once again! Thanks for your prayers!


ITAGUA - LAST TEACHING SESSION (October 30, 2008)

Please pray for Mike as he will be teaching his last Chronological teaching session at the Itagua church, and from here on out, the church leaders will be using the Chronological lessons to ground their members' faith in the Lord.

Follow-up: Due to rain, the church service was canceled on Sunday. Mike shared the message during communion in our church here in Asuncion instead. Lord willing, we will be able to return to Itagua soon.

"NIGHT OF INFORMATION" IN THE CHACO (October 30, 2008)

Please pray for Mike as he travels to the Chaco the middle of next week to attend a "Night of Information".

This is a night for NTM missionaries and people in the area to come together to fellowship, for NTM to give  a history as well as an update as to what we as a field are doing among tribal people here in Paraguay, and a time at the end for open discussion.

Update: Mike arrived safely to the Chaco.

Follow-up: The "Night of Information" went really well. There was 16 from the community who attended the meeting. It was a good time of fellowship between NTM missionaries and the people in the area and a good opportunity to share what NTM is doing among tribal people here in Paraguay. Thank you for praying.

1ST PASTORS' FORUM (September 27, 2008)

PRAY:

In the second week of October, NTM Paraguay is hosting  their first Pastors' Forum, where missionaries and Paraguayan pastors will come together to talk about tribal missions. 

Mike will be heading up the meeting and looks forward to the input of the Paraguayan pastors on partnering together in seeing tribal groups reached with the Gospel.

Pray for Mike as he organizes and prepares for the Pastors' Forum, for the NTM missionaries and Paraguayan pastors involved, and a great time of fellowship together.

Followup: The Pastors' Forum went really well, and there will be another one held the end of November. Thanks for praying for this forum.

ACHE TRIP (September 27, 2008)

PRAY:

We as a family are going to visit an Ache colony that we haven't visited before. This trip would be 2 days and would give us an opportunity to build relationships with the Ache as well as the missionaries in that area. We will be making this trip in the middle of October. 

Pray for safety in travel, good health, and opportunites to build relationships. 

Follow-up: This particular trip was canceled due to 2 other meetings that we had to be at. But, Mike was able to go on a trip with his dad to visit the Ache in a different location this past week.

TRAINING TEACHERS TO USE THE CHRONOLOGICAL TEACHING (September 27, 2008)

Pray:

 For Mike & Dean as they travel 5 hours the end of October and provide adequate training on how to practically implement the Bible lessons to the Pastors.

Follow-up: Mike was not able to go, due to miserable ear infections. Dean Goddard (Mike's dad) did make the trip, and what a blessing to hear from him how the trip went and how God is using these Pastors to desire training in how to implement the Chronoligical Bible lessons in their churches.

TEACHING SESSIONS ON "HOW TO TEACH CHRONOLOGICALLY" (August 7, 2008)

Mike and Dean Goddard (Mike's dad) along with Ramon (a Paraguayan pastor) are going to two churches and one home meeting to teach a series of sessions on "How to teach chronologically". It is outside of Asuncion (45 minutes to 1 1/2 hrs drive).

Mike taught two sessions at a Paraguayan church, and then, the church bought the chronological materials and will continue using them on their own.

It is really exciting to see these believers desiring to build a firm foundation on God's Word and know Him more!

Pray:

1. For Mike & Dean as they teach the sessions on "How to teach chronologically".

2. For safety as they travel 1-2 times a week.

3. This week, Dean & Nellie will be going on Saturday evening to teach at a church meeting, and Mike, Trisha, and kids will be going on Sunday to a church meeting in the morning and a home meeting in the later afternoon.

4. For the churches and individuals as they start teaching Chronologically in their meetings.

Follow-up: The teaching sessions are going well. They are now 4 different church meetings on a regular basis that Mike and Dean are teaching the Chronological lessons.

SATURDAY TEACHING SEMINAR (August 7, 2008)

This Saturday, Mike will be teaching 15-20 students about cross-cultural church planting. The classes that he will be teaching include: Worldview, Animism, Syncretism, and Chronological teaching.

Please pray:

1. For Mike as he teaches these classes and as he interacts with the students.

2. For the students - that they will be challenged and that their lives will be used in reaching the unreached with the Gospel.

Follow-up: Wow! What an awesome opportunity Mike had to share with students who were hungry to know more about cross-cultural church planting. Thanks for your prayers!


GO CROSS-CULTURAL IN JULY (June 28, 2008)

Please pray for Mike & Trisha as they plan and prepare for receiving a Team of 10 individuals from the USA in July.

We will be visitng a tribal church and the missionaries that work among them. Our goal is to provide an overview of what is involved in tribal church planting and to challenge the Team to let their lives be used in reaching the unreached with the Gospel.

Follow-up: We had a great team of 10, who we were able to see tribal church planting first-hand. We praise the Lord that everyone stayed healthy and how God used this time in their lives to challenge them to live for HIM.


MIKE SPEAKS IN OUR CHURCH (June 28, 2008)

Please pray for Mike as he shares on Sunday morning (June 29th) in our church about tribal missions.

Pray that the church will continue to expand their vision for the Lost.

Follow-up: The meeting went great, and Mike challenged them with a roll-out by Wycliffee translators on the tribal groups without the Bible in their language. 


TRANSLATORS FOR WORLDVIEW/ANIMISM CONFERENCE (June 28, 2008)

Please pray that Mike will be able to find sufficient translators for the Worldview/Animism Conference NTM is hosting in July.

The orators (George Walker and Greg Melendes) will be speaking in English. Effective translators are needed to simultaneously translate very technical and philosophical concepts into Spanish.

Follow-up: Mike had to translate for a few sessions (from English into Spanish), but thankfully, there were translators available to come for most of the sessions.


MIKE SHARES ON TRIBAL CHURCH PLANTING THIS SUNDAY (May 31, 2008)

Please pray for Mike as he shares about tribal church planting this Sunday morning in a church just outside of the capital.

Pray that God will ignite a passion for the lost in this church.

Follow-up: Thanks for praying for Mike. The meeting went well, and Mike was able to share with them his heartbeat and passion for tribal people.


OUR KIDS NEED A BABYSITTER IN JULY (May 31, 2008)

We will be attending a week-long Worldview & Animism Conference in July.

Please pray that we can find a Christian girl, who would be willing to watch our kids during this time here in our home.   

Follow-up: We praise the Lord for Lourdes. The kids loved her, and she was able watch our kids each day from 7:15am - 6pm! What a tremendous blessing she was!


MIKE ATTENDING MEETINGS (May 24, 2008)

Mike will be attending the Field Committee meetings here in Asuncion this next week.

Pray that God will give Mike clarity of speech as he shares about some areas of Mobilization and for each of the men attending these meetings that God will give them the wisdom that they need for the decisions that will be made this week.

Follow-up:  Mike had an opportunity to share about different areas of Mobilization as well as give an update as to what God is doing in South America.  


SPEAKING IN A PARAGUAYAN CHURCH (May 24, 2008)

On Thursday evening, Mike will be speaking in a Paraguayan church and sharing about tribal missions here in Paraguay.

Pray:

- for those attending the meeting.

- for Mike as he shares (in Spanish) what God is doing in Paraguay among the tribal people.

- for more missionaries to reach the unevangelized groups of Paraguay and around the world.

Follow-up: Mike had the opportunity to share about the need for more missionaries and how the local church can be involved in tribal missions.


SHARING ABOUT MISSIONS ON THE RADIO (May 24, 2008)

On Thursday evening, Mike will be speaking on the Christian radio station, where he has been invited to share 30 minutes about New Tribes Mission and tribal missions.

Pray:

- for Mike as he answers questions during the radio show.

- that people will be challenged into cross-cultural missions.

Followup: MIke and another missionary were able to share on the Christian radio for about 20 minutes. We praise the Lord for this opportunity to share about tribal missions.


LUNCH WITH A CHRISTIAN PARAGUAYAN COUPLE (May 20, 2008)

Tomorrow, we will be having a Christian Paraguayan couple over for lunch. They are highly active in missions, and we look forward to this opportunity to entertain them here in our home.

Pray:

- for Trisha as she prepares the meal.

- for our Spanish to flow smoothly.

- for the Paraguayan couple and us to have a great time of fellowship.

Followup: We had a wonderful time visiting with the Paraguayan Pastor. He was able to come, but his wife had to work. She is the school director at Michael and Lea's school.

TRISHA'S TOOTH & SORE GUMS (May 10, 2008)

Please pray for Trisha:

She has a molar that is throbbing with pain, and her upper gums on the  same side are inflamed. It is causing lots of pain and discomfort.  

Follow-up: After 2 weeks of discomfort, Trisha went to a Paraguayan friend's dentist office, where Trisha was told that she had a really bad root canal. It was taken care of in 30 minutes. We praise the Lord that Trisha has no more pain or discomfort.


MIKE TRAVELING TO ST. CRUZ (May 10, 2008)

Please pray for Mike. He will be traveling to Santa Cruz, Bolivia tomorrow. He will be there until Wednesday.

LEA'S CAVITY (May 1, 2008)

THE PERIKS (April 23, 2008)

Please pray with us for Rich and Dee Perik as they appoach their final days of sorting and packing of all their belongings.

The Periks have sensed the call to finish their 4 decades of overseas missionary carreer by assisting New Tribes Mission of Bolivia with survey work. This survey work plays a vital part of tribal church planting as it provides the information and data necessary for proper decisions to be made in regards to a missionary's Ministry Allocation and overall strategy.

Please pray for them during the move into a different country. Pray also for the adjustments to a different set of challenges.

Please pray for more laborers in both Paraguay and Bolivia as there are tribal people that have yet to hear a clear presentation of the Gospel message in their heart language.

10-15 MIN. MESSAGE (April 23, 2008)

Please pray for Mike this Sunday (April 27th) as he preaches a 10-15 min. message in our church Renuevo.

The meeting is centered around the celebration of the Lord's Supper with Jesus Christ's finished work on the cross as the focal point.

Follow up: The message went well this morning! Thanks for your prayers.


MIRJAM (April 23, 2008)

Please pray for Mirjam a young lady from Germany as she looks into the possibility of visiting a tribal village and get a glimps into cross-cultural church planting.

Lord willing Mirjam will be able to visit the Pai tribe next week for a few days.

Update: Mirjam will definately be able to visit the Pai tribe this week! Thanks for praying!


HOUSE REPAIRS (April 23, 2008)

We are praising God for His financial provision this month in order to make some much needed house repairs! 

One of the most crucial repairs made yesterday was the replacement of a few broken roof tiles which caused much discomfort for Mike every time it rained... the leak was right over HIS side of the bed!!  


PRAISE & PRAYER REQUESTS - APRIL 2008 (April 4, 2008)

Praise:

1. For the Post-ACERCATE reunion on March 29th. We had 8 young people in our home, and we had a wonderful time visiting with them and hearing what God is doing in their lives.
2. For Michael Dean, who is turning 6 years old on April 9th.
3. For the opportunity that Mike had to attend the conference in Argentina and build relationships with Latinos from different South American countries.

Prayer Requests:

1. For our kids’ salvation.
2. For wisdom as we raise Michael, Lea, and Kaleb.
3. For good health.
4. For Trisha as she home schools Michael and Lea.

MOBILIZATION PRAISE & PRAYER REQUESTS (February 5, 2008)

February 2008

Praise:
1. For the team of 7 young people, who were challenged during ACERCATE a los Pai Tavytera.
2. For the missionaries who assisted with the ACERCATE.
3. For Melissa (a Paraguayan girl), who is leaving this week for the NTM training center ETNOS in Bolivia.
4. For the Recalde family joining Mobilization – currently on a part-time basis.

Prayer Requests:
1. For the ACERCATE 2008 members, that they will seek further training and become missionaries.
2. For Melissa (a Paraguayan girl), as she leaves her comfort zone (family, church, city, etc.), studies at ETNOS, and that God would provide for her financial needs. Her church and individuals have promised to help her financially to make this happen.
3. For the Paraguayan churches to be challenged toward a greater degree of involvement in tribal missions.
4. For the events this year:
      - May: Mike will be traveling to Bolivia for a conference and to visit ETNOS for a few days.
      - July: A church team from WI coming for a GO CROSS-CULTURAL trip (same as ACERCATE, only in English).
      - Mike & Trisha plan to visit the Brazilian missionary training center.
      - Mike would like to expose Pastors and key Christian leaders to tribal missions through brief, weekend trips.

THE GODDARD'S TRAVELS CONTINUE... (August 15, 2007)

Praise:

- for safety in traveling to FL

PRAISE AND PRAYER - AUG. 2007 (August 2, 2007)

Praise: 

  1. God’s awesome provision during our Home Assignment: housing in MO and WV, groceries, extra cash gifts for travel expenses, a vehicle, and so much more! 
  2. Good health. 
  3. Safety during our travels (to Michigan, Wisconsin, & West Virginia) 
  4. For the opportunities granted to us to share in churches and with individuals about how God is working in Paraguay.
  5. For the 7 Missions Conferences taking place in 2007 among the Brethren assemblies in Paraguay.

Prayer Requests: 

  1. For wisdom as we raise our children {Michael II, Lea, & Kaleb}.
  2. For a safe trip to Sanford, Florida in Aug. We will be attending a 5-day conference at the NTM Headquarters and also take the opportunity to visit family, friends, and financial partners. 
  3. For a safe trip to Waukesha, Wisconsin toward the end of August. We will be speaking at Meadowbrook Church and visiting with family and friends in the area.
  4. That God would provide coworkers in the Mobilization Dept.
  5. For more missionaries to the field of Paraguay.
  6. For an increase of involvement in tribal missions on the part of local Paraguayan churches.


MOVING TO WV... (July 19, 2007)

Praise:

  1. For the house that is available for us to live in during our time in WV.
  2. Kaleb is caught up on his shots.
  3. Michael & Lea have both learned to swim!
  4. For God's unconditional love.

 

Prayer Requests:

  1. For us as we travel to WV on Monday.
  2. For us as we settle into our new home in WV.
  3. For our kids as they adjust to a "new" church, S.S. class, different routine, meeting new friends, etc.
  4. For our upcoming trips to Florida and Wisconsin in August.

PRAISE & PRAYER REQUESTS... (July 10, 2007)

Praise:

  1. For the safety that God gave us on our trip to Michigan and Wisconsin.
  2. that Michael Dean's fever is gone and he is back to running around and having a blast!
  3. For a great time with Trisha's family and a relaxing time at the lake in South Haven, MI!
  4. For the opportunity to visit Meadowbrook Church and spend time with people there.

 Prayer:

  1. Safety for Mike as he works with Trisha's dad for the next few weeks on building a house.
  2. For us as we prepare for meetings in August, September, and October.
  3. For a few Mobilization projects that need accomplished before our return to Paraguay.
  4. For good health.

 


SAFETY IN TRAVELS & ALL 3 KIDS WITH FEVERS... (July 4, 2007)

Praise the Lord that we had a safe trip to Michigan and have been enjoying our time with friends and family.

Pray for Michael Dean, Lea, & Kaleb, who all have fevers as of tonight. Definitely no fun for us or them, especially when we are away from home and plan to travel to WI this weekend, unless of course, the fevers continue.

Praise:

  • For a great trip to Kansas and the hospitality of our friends {Ben & Bek}.
  • For the unexpected visit with Trisha’s brother, DJ, who came from WI to MO for the weekend.

TRAVELING TO KANSAS (June 20, 2007)

Next week, we will be traveling to Kansas to visit with friends and share at a Church.

  • For safety as we travel.
  • For hearts to be challenged into missions.
  • Adjustment for our kids as they meet new people.
  • For a profitable time visting with friends.


PRAISE (June 18, 2007)

  • That Mike has recovered from Dengue or whatever it was that caused his sickness.
  • As Trisha's eyes continue to heal from the LASIK eye surgery - she sees clearly without glasses, but does have frequent headaches as her eyes adjust.


JUNE PRAYER REQUESTS (June 4, 2007)

  • For Mike, who has been sick since Wednesday morning. We believe that he has dengue, because all the symptoms are there: fever, achy, headaches, and weakness.
  • For Trisha’s recovery from Lasik eye surgery.
  • For wisdom as we raise our children {Michael II, Lea, & Kaleb} and that they might come to a clear understanding of salvation.
  • For coworkers in the Mobilization Department.
  • For an increase of involvement in tribal missions on the part of local Paraguayan churches.
