Missionary Terry Reed didn’t have his usual Guarijio co-worker, Vicente, available to help him with the Bible translation work, but Vicente’s father, Santos, has been working with Terry on the book of Acts to get it ready to check with a skilled translator.
The two men worked in Mexico last week on Acts 27. The men had been working for hours on the account of the shipwreck the Apostle Paul experienced and Terry was ready to stop for the day.
"Oh, don’t stop now!" Santos said. "I don’t remember how Paul gets out of this one! I know he has to be bitten by the snake yet, but I don’t remember how he gets off the boat and onto the land!"
Terry chuckled. It reminded him of the times he watched a TV show and suddenly the words "to be continued" appeared on the screen.
Terry could see that the translation was communicating as he saw the emotion it evoked in Santos.
"The story became alive and dynamic to him," Terry wrote. "That is exactly what we as translators are searching for."
Please pray for the team as they prepare the translation to be checked. The time of the check has already been pushed back a couple of weeks and is currently scheduled for the third week of September.
"We have faced many roadblocks to this particular check, but we know the Lord desires to have His Word in Guarijio," Terry wrote. |
