Our ministry vision is to see a fully functioning, self-propagating, indigenous New Testament Church established among an unreached tribal group in Papua New Guinea. This means that our family (along with one or two other families) will move into a remote jungle village to live with the people there. We will learn their language and culture in order to communicate the Gospel effectively.
After presenting the Gospel in their language, we will begin teaching and discipling new believers. As the Holy Spirit brings spiritual growth and maturity into lives of local believers, we will begin appointing some into leadership positions within the church. As we transfer shepherding and teaching responsibilities over to these new leaders, we hope to work ourselves out of a job.
Our prayer and hope is to leave a functioning church body composed of both young and mature believers that are dependent only on our Heavenly Father to continue the ministry of reaching out to others with the good news of Jesus.
Rachel and I recognize that the challenges present in bringing the gospel to the people of Papua New Guinea are great. But we believe that our God is greater. We believe that numerous passages in the Bible like Matthew 28:18-20 clearly state God’s desire and passion to see all peoples of the world come to a saving knowledge of Him. We are excited about the privilege and opportunities that God has given us to be a part in taking His Word to “every tongue, tribe, and nation.” |
