MACON AND KATY HARE Macon is a proficient coffee drinker who enjoys flying standby and entertaining people with humorous anecdotes without cracking a smile.
Katy enjoys traveling, babysitting her granddaughters, and can play a gracious hostess at a moments notice.
“God is doing incredible things throughout the world using ordinary people to plant tribal churches,” Macon said. “We get to tell their stories. These are not just any stories. These are God's stories” Serving with New Tribes Mission in Colombia, SA for 25 years gave Macon and Katy first-hand experience in tribal church planting, administration and maintaining a day-to-day willingness to be used of God as He desires.
From 1995 to 2006 the Hares served on the leadership team of NTM/USA in Sanford, FL.
Now, as Director of NTM Communications and chief editor of the NTM@Work magazine, Macon helps missionaries convey the purpose and vision of NTM and challenge people to greater involvement in what God is accomplishing globally. Nothing excites him more than seeing people turned onto missions.
Katy works alongside her husband as secretary, disciples young women and seeks to build and support her family with a God-centered love and wisdom. She also has a passion to see missionary women encouraged and fulfilled in their ministry.
Katy has co-organized Ladies Retreats and Teas and to date, has ministered to missionary women 8 countries.
“There's something about seeing a missionary woman's face transform from weariness to joy and peace that just excites me,” said Katy. “It's knowing that God used me to bring refreshment to one of His dearest servants.” You can learn more about her ministry of encouragement by visiting: www.womenindiscipleship.org
Macon and Katy have 3 married children — Aly Young in Spartanburg, SC, Jeremy Hare in Aventura, FL and Jessica Sergio in Sanford, FL.
Macon and Katy enjoy their three granddaughters, ages 4yr, 2yr and 10mo, who keep them young at heart;
