Linda Krieg, a widow, arrived on the field of Papua New Guinea in August, 1986; and in October joined the missionary team opening up the work in the Siawi tribe, in the Sepik area. For the next almost 20 years, she was involved in church planting among the Siawi people, serving as the linguist on the team and spearheading the translation of the Bible into the Siawi language.
In October, 2005, with the New Testament at about 50% completed, other responsibilities were cutting into available translation time. Helping other church planting teams, both as Bible translation consultant and linguistic consultant, requires a fairly large investment of time, but provides an opportunity to help those teams reach their goal of establishing churches in their tribal groups. At that time, because of the desperate need for a full time translation consultant, the decision was made for Linda to move into that slot.
After serving as full-time consultant for 2 1/2 years, because of changes in Siawi, it was decided that she would move back to Siawi for 2 years, with the hope of completing the New Testament for them.
