I have to honestly say that getting into the Christmas spirit was a little hard this year in the heat and humidity being so many miles from family. At first, even the sound of Christmas music would make me cry but, we continued on and I am glad I did because the Lord has done so many things in our lives this season to make our first Christmas overseas more than just memorable but merry.
The season started off with a wonderful Thanksgiving celebration with several friends and was followed by a day after Thanksgiving shopping trip. Me and about 7 other girls drove 3 hours to go shopping where there was even a mall.
To our delight there was about one half of one isle full of Christmas stuff! We were each able to get a Christmas tree, bulbs, lights, stockings and even some gifts. It was a wonderful treat to be with friends talking, shopping and even having starbucks! Who would have thought?
I got home and we "decked the halls" at first the tree had one solid line of bulbs at the bottom as the kids decorated but once they realized that they had ran out of bulbs they decided to redistribute them.
On with the blessings...
We were able to go to a Christmas play entitled "Christmas Around the World" put on by the kids at the International school here in town.
We have been getting together with a friend of mine and her two boys to Christmas crafts and make cookies. So we now have glittered paper snowflakes adorning the doors.
I was able to find a star for the top of the tree IN TOWN! Ethan just thought the tree wasn't complete without one so on our FIRST trip to town we found the perfect star. Totally the Lord!
We got some nice Christmas cards and even a few packages. It always lifts our spirits to hear from you!
I guess what I have been learning lately is that the Lord gives each of us gifts at Christmas uniquely designed to bless each one of us. Have you found yours yet?
Wishing you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
