John & Margaret began training with NTM in 1977. They joined the staff of the  Language Institute in 1981 and served there until 1986 when they went to West Africa.

They had the privilege of opening the field of Guinea in 1988 and were part of the field administration until 1995.

Birkemos rejoined the LI staff in 1997 as instructors. John joined the leadership team and served in that capacity until 2005.

Both John & Margaret now serve on the Development Team for the Missionary Training Center in Camdenton.

They have begun spending 4 months of each year in Ghana and Nigeria West Africa. The focus of their ministry is training Ghanaian and Nigerian church planters and missionary candidates and mobilizing Christians for missions.

Inanbimali tribe, Papua New Guinea (December 1, 2008)
Nine believers stood in the face of opposition this week and were baptized. Please pray that the faith and strength they showed will encourage other believers and be a testimony to unbelievers. Find out more -- read the story >>

Kuna tribe, Panama (December 1, 2008)
Four Kuna believers traveled over muddy, difficult trails to be missionaries to their own people in a village that once refused missionaries. There are now 14 new adult believers. One couple reported teaching evangelistic Bible lessons to a group of more than 100 children. Praise God for His work and pray for a continuing ministry in this village.

Indonesia (December 1, 2008)
