Daily Scripture

"I will give You thanks in the great assembly; I wil praise You among many people."

Psalm 35:18

What do airplanes have to do with the Great Commission?

When Jesus commanded us to “go and make disciples of all nations” (Matthew 28:19-20) he meant “every nation, tribe, people, and language”                   (Revelation 7:9-10).

There are millions of people living in locations like this one, hidden or forgotten by the outside world, but they are not hidden nor forgotten by their Creator.

Jesus had in mind the Banwaon tribe of the Philippines and the Piapoco tribe of Columbia when he breathed His last on the cross and said, “It is finished”. He finished paying for not only our sins, but those of tribal people all over the world living in isolation, cut off from the outside world. These are people that have no access to the gospel and no way to know their Creator if people don’t face the barriers of isolation and language in order to fulfill the Mandate God set before His people.

It is our passion at New Tribes Mission to reach into the darkness, to these “hidden” peoples of the world, in order to share with them the Good News of what Jesus Christ accomplished for them on the cross.

In order to do this, NTM missionaries must learn a language that may never have been learned before and put that language in a written form, with the ultimate goal of translating God’s word into the “heart language” of the people. In many cases, this process of learning the language, translating God’s Word, and teaching the Bible foundationally from Genesis to Revelation can take up to 25-30 years. What a commitment!

So how do these missionaries get back and forth into these remotely located tribes?
Many of these places have no roads or road structure nearby, so the only way into the jungle is by foot or dugout canoe, which can take days to weeks of strenuous and even treacherous travel.

This is where God is using the airplane to effectively speed up the work of sharing Christ with tribal people. What took days and weeks by ground and canoe can now be done in minutes or hours by air. Joel is a pilot/mechanic and will be providing safe and reliable transportation to NTM missionaries in remote tribal locations.  Many of these tribal people have never seen a road or car, but they happen to have an “international airport” within walking distance. Kind of ironic, huh?

We can’t wait to use the gifts and abilities God has given us for His glory as we help New Tribes Mission get this most important message into the hands of “forgotten people”. We look forward to being an encouragement and support to NTM missionaries that are in isolated tribal locations.

New Tribes Mission Aviation considers us the "missionary to the missionaries” and that is exactly the heart God has given us for this ministry. We not only want to meet the missionaries' physical needs as Joel will be flying them and their supplies into the tribes, but we also want to meet their spiritual needs by praying with them and encouraging them to keep pressing on.

God has given Missy a heart for encouragement and building up of the body, and she looks forward to doing all she can to pray with and encourage those around her. We also look forward to getting involved in a local national church and looking for opportunities to build relationships with nationals that we come in contact with.

  Thanks for partnering with us!
