Each and every day I realize how blessed I am to have the family that God has given me. I tell my parents all the time "I am so glad that God has given me to you and no one else." I was born and raised in a Christian family and was taught the Word of God from a very young age. I have an older sister and two brothers, one older, one younger. There are no words to express how thankful I am. My family is way cool!
The journey to the MTC has been a long and exciting one, taking one step at a time. My family has been cheering me on the whole way. I cannot tell you how encouraging it is to have my family telling me to keep pressing on.
Testimony: I accepted Christ when I was 5 years old. I was climbing a tree with my older brother and sister on a chilly fall day. When my brother climbed down he broke one of the branches. I could not reach the next branch down so I was stranded. Having grown up in church I knew that I was a sinner and if I died I was going to hell. I was so scared that I was either going to fall and die or starve to death. I did not want to go to hell so I asked my sister to climb up into the tree and tell me about how I could go to heaven when I die. She explained salvation clearly to me. I believed it to be true and accepted God's free gift of eternal life right in the tree.
Every since I was a little girl I was fascinated by missionaries when they came to speak at our church. I did not think, however, that I could be a missionary. I was too normal and unimportant. When I was in 8th grade at a youth retreat I was faced with the challenge to do whatever God wanted. I struggled with this because I was afraid of what God was going to ask me to do. After much prayer and tears I realized that it was my own fear that was holding me back. "I am willing to do whatever you ask, be whoever you want and go wherever you led me to go." I know that God is going to be with me the whole way. I know that I am still normal but I realize that I have an amazing, awesome, all-powerful God. No one is too normal for God to use them.
How did I end up with New Tribes Mission? I went on a mission trip to Botswana, Africa during the summer of 2003. I loved it and did not want to come back. I loved being exposed to a new culture and the language fascinated me. When I heard about New Tribes I knew that tribal church planting was something that I wanted to be a part of. I attended New tribes Bible Institute in Jackson from 2005-2007.
