In the last several months we have had quite a few people ask about special projects they might be able to donate towards. We are forever grateful to our monthly supporters, but since there are those who would rather see a project completed as opposed to try to remember to send a gift each month, this message is for you!
The last few months have proved to be very expensive for us. Shipping costs, flight tickets, travel out to the village where we’ve been working on the airplane... In all over $6,000. We have paid for this from our savings, but now as we are soon heading out of the jungle and into language study, the expenses we will need to cover will match those we’ve had already.
After 5 days of walking all over the city we found and reserved an apartment very close to the language school. This was the easy part. Cultural experience #1 when you rent an apartment, that’s all you get! If it hasn’t been screwed down or grouted to the floor the last tenants took it with them when they left. There are no light fixtures, appliances, furniture, shower heads, toilet paper holder, nothing!
We are going to have lots of upfront costs when we move into our apartment including a refrigerator, oven/stove, bed, couches, shower heads, table and chairs, washing machine and dryer, light fixtures, dresser, night stands, bookshelves, small hot water heater, water purification system, etc. With the help of our faithful monthly financial supporters, Jonie and I have been able to save up some money, but we are anticipating the purchase of a vehicle in a few months and are hoping to put the money towards that. Pray with us that God will provide the money for us to pay for all of these needs.
