PASSPORTS PROVIDED FOR (July 7, 2008)

Thank you for praying. The costs of our passports have been taken care of. Now we're looking at some $2,000 in travel costs. That may partially be provided for, or it could be a bit more expensive. But God knows everything, so let's trust Him together.

PASSPORT TIME (July 3, 2008)

Travel is a key part of our ministry, and Ian’s passport expired last month. Julie needs a passport. Please pray for $175 for this need.

MEGHAN IS FINE (May 13, 2008)

We have heard from Meghan, and she is fine. She did not even feel the earthquake in southern China. But she is concerned for the family of a friend she knows in Beijing -- they live in the area that was hit hard. Please pray.

EVAN TO SEE CHIROPRACTOR (May 13, 2008)

Evan, our son, goes in to see a chiropractor about his back on Wednesday. Thanks for continuing to pray.

EARTHQUAKE FAR FROM MEGHAN (May 12, 2008)

Although we have not heard from Meghan since the massive earthquake in China, we are not alarmed. Meghan, our second-oldest, is finishing up a year of teaching just outside Bejing, nearly 1,000 miles from the epicenter. Thank you for your concerns and prayers.

FALL MINISTRY TRAVEL PLANS (May 8, 2008)

Julie and I have airline tickets to visit the Chicago area Oct. 9-23. We’re now looking for opportunities to meet with churches, supporters and other friends and family, a place to stay and a vehicle to borrow. Pray that those things will all fall into place. We’re looking into tickets to visit Southern California in November. Pray that we’ll find a good price – relatively speaking, these days. Drop us a line if you’d like to know more or want to help >>

PAPUA NEW GUINEA - Dinangat tribe (May 8, 2008)

“Jesus took my place and died for my sin,” Maangit said as missionaries met one-on-one with the people who attended evangelistic Bible lessons. He was one of many thanking God. Thank you for praying!

NOT AS BAD BUT PAINFUL (May 5, 2008)

Our son Evan has a minor bulge in a disc in his back, which is apparently not as serious as we feared, we finally found out late Friday. We’re still trying to get in to see the doctor to find out what can be done about this, and he’s still having some periods of serious pain. Thank you for continuing to pray.

PAPUA NEW GUINEA - Dinangat tribe (May 5, 2008)

Tonight the Dinangat people of Papua New Guinea are hearing about the resurrection of Christ. Tuesday night’s follow-up lesson is crucial.

DECISIONS TO MAKE (May 4, 2008)

Our youngest daughter, Brynna, has some serious decisions to make in regard to college.

She had been planning to study nursing at a local community college, and then transfer to the University of Central Florida. Then she found out it was very difficult to get into the nursing program at UCF from a community college, so she applied to UCF. But she applied late and got on the waiting list, and she is unlikely to get into the nursing program there.

So what to do?

She could take a year out of school, doing something worthwhile – such as volunteering at a hospice, which is one of the places she is considering working as a nurse. She could go to a community college and study nursing. Or she could study something else.

She wants to be a nurse, by the way, because she feels this is what God really wants her to do. So please pray for His leading and guidance so she can faithfully follow Him.

JACKIE'S BACKGROUND ... (May 3, 2008)

Thank you again for praying for Jackie. And we’re sorry!

We realized after the fact that some people are likely not aware of why Jackie has constant dizziness.

While we were in training with New Tribes Mission, Jackie got Lyme disease. The doctor prescribed two weeks of antibiotics, even though the CDC at the time said four weeks was required, and instead of going away, the disease simply hid.

It resurfaced again while we were on deputation ten years ago, and after the doctors had completely failed to figure out the problem, they agreed to treat her for Lyme disease as long as we “signed off” on it. They did, and she got better.

Apparently what happened then was that the disease went into a cyst form and hid. It resurfaced a few years back, and after going through a whole bunch of rigamarole with the medical community, we finally found someone who would treat for chronic Lyme disease.

She has not fully recovered from that, and continues to have constant dizziness, which is sometimes so bad that she cannot get out of bed. Hence, she had qualified as disabled, and volunteers with New Tribes Mission as she can.

Her hope is to some day learn to cope with the dizziness well enough to walk without a cane and get off disability. Perhaps it will take a miracle. Please pray.

VIDEO MEETINGS ... (April 28, 2008)

Ian has been in Nashville meeting with the guys from gi inc about our next video project for NTM. These are the guys who did CHANGED. Meetings have been going well; pray for good follow-up and for a good flight back to Sanford Wednesday morning.

PAR: MANJUI (April 28, 2008)

The Manjuis' belief in a "hairy demon" has held back the growth of those who have placed their faith in Christ. Please pray that the believers will be free to follow God's Word.

WAITING ON RESULTS ... (April 28, 2008)

Evan had an MRI on his back Monday morning, but we won't hear about results until Wednesday. Please keep praying.

EVAN HAS BACK TROUBLE (April 23, 2008)

Well, the good news is, our son Evan does not have kidney stones. The bad news is, he apparently has some kind of spinal injury, according to X-rays he had taken today. He goes back in Monday for an MRI. Please pray for him.

KIDNEY STONES (April 21, 2008)

Please pray for Evan, our son. He is getting a scan today to determine whether he does indeed have kidney stones, and if so, what should or can be done about it. He's in a lot of pain.

JACKIE IS BETTER (April 16, 2008)

Jackie is doing much better, and has been able to get around, and even do some writing and editing at the office. Thank you for praying!

JACKIE VERY DIZZY (April 9, 2008)

Extreme vertigo has sidelined Jackie, our oldest daughter, for a week and a half now. She’s had trouble getting up and fixing meals, let alone coming into the office and writing. We are very thankful to God for the fact that she’s in an apartment right here on the NTM complex. where we can help her. We’d appreciate your prayers for her recovery. This is the longest she’s been like this in years, and while we can usually pinpoint the causes of her extreme spells, this one is a mystery.

BRYNNA WAITING ON ADMISSION (April 8, 2008)

Brynna, our youngest daughter, has applied to the nursing program at the University of Central Florida. Although there is a huge need for nurses, there are not a lot of spaces in the programs that train nurses. Pray that she will get in.

BRAZIL - Culina tribe (April 3, 2008)

Andreas and Angelika Totz are thankful for your prayers in regard to the death of a chief last month. The Culinas were blaming a local merchant, but since there was no evidence he was responsible, things have settled down. The couple thinks they have made strengthened relationships among the Culinas through this difficulty.

BRAZIL - Culina tribe (March 18, 2008)

Church planting efforts among the Culinas have been disrupted by the death of a chief, which the people are blaming on a local merchant. Pray that this situation can be resolved quickly and peacefully so Andreas and Angelika Totz can make progress toward planting a church among the Culinas.

SAFELY THERE (August 16, 2007)

Thank you for praying! Meghan has arrived safely in China and is now in training. In a couple of weeks she heads to a school outside Beijing to begin teaching.

And do you know what's even better than having your prayers answered? Helping other people pray and see their prayers answered!

Did you know you're already doing that? Your participation in our ministry allows us to share prayer requests with tens of thousands of people through the NTM Daily Bulletin.

And I've been thrilled to be able to share four answers in the last three days for prayer requests shared in the NTM Daily Bulletin. Thank you for making that possible.

MEGHAN GOING TO CHINA (August 13, 2007)

Today Meghan leaves for 19 hours of flying to teach in China. Her orientation in California is complete; now she has a couple of weeks of training, and then she the first week of September she begins nine months of teaching in a school near Beijing.

Our second-oldest daughter will be teaching English to elementary school students, and developing relationships that enable her to share the Hope that is in her. And yes, she took her bagpipes.

Please pray for good travels, good adjustments, and a fruitful time in China.

WISDOM FOR THE FUTURE (August 1, 2007)

Our youngest daughter, Brynna, who will be a senior in high school, is considering ROTC to fund her education. Please pray for her to have wisdom in this and other choices regarding her future. Also, thank God with us that although our income has been too low to help any of our children with college, God has provided for Jackie and Meghan, and we know we can trust Him to provide for Brynna and Evan.

LOOKING TO GOD (July 31, 2007)

Would you please join us in trusting God for the funds we need to be effective in ministry? Specifically, we are asking God to provide:

  • $2,000 in one-time gifts, so we can make a trip to visit ministry partners and find new ministry partners.
  • $1,000 in additional monthly giving, so we can begin to properly fund our ministry.

You may make a secure gift online, or find out how to give by check or mail >>

LEAVING THE USA (July 16, 2007)

SCARED? (June 28, 2007)

It’s a little bit humbling that I sometimes allow my fears to keep me from doing what God wants me to do, and especially when I heard about Daapoi’s realization that God is bigger than his fears -- after only one week of Bible teaching! Pray for Daapoi and his people as they hear more of God’s story.

TRYING TO FINISH (June 27, 2007)

Our team of writers and editors is trying to finish work on the August issue of New Tribes Mission’s magazine, and this is always the hardest part. Pray for perseverance to see this through.

PREPARING TO TEACH (June 26, 2007)

Please pray for me (Ian) as I prepare to teach at our church here in Sanford in July. I’ll be using Lessons from the Heart, by Jack Graham, and there’s just so much good material there that it’s tough to know exactly where to start, and where to end. Pray for wisdom and discernment.

THREE SIMPLE THINGS (June 19, 2007)

Please pray for me (Ian) as I try to keep three simple principles in focus each day:

  • Maintaining an ongoing conversation with God throughout the day (“pray without ceasing”)
  • Trying to look at things from God's perspective rather than my own – “What is He trying to do?” rather than, “What do I need/want to do?”
  • Trying to slow down and even stop when necessary to make sure I've done that

VOLUNTEERING IN FLORIDA (June 18, 2007)

Our oldest daughter, Jackie, has just started volunteering as a writer in the New Tribes Mission Communications department. She's taken a huge load off others on our staff, and we're very glad to have her here. At the same time, she's able to volunteer because she's on disability, and she's on disablity because of her ongoing problems from the Lyme disease she had. This week she's had extreme vertigo, and we think a lot of it is from overdoing it. Pray that we can help her find a balance there.

GOING TO CHINA (June 18, 2007)

Meghan, our second-oldest, is making arrangements to go teach English in China with ELIC. “A significant amount of time outside of class will be spent building relationships with students and fellow teachers and sharing life with them,” she wrote. “These relationships will open doors for me to share the Hope I have and the Truth that brings us Life.” She's been accepted; now she's wading through visa stuff, and partnership development. Pray that everything comes together in time for her to go in August.

CONFERENCE ENCOURAGING (May 24, 2007)

Higaunon believers in the Philippines are gathered for a bi-annual conference, with some traveling more than 50 miles. “As usual they come as a tremendous encouragement to us as they shared what the Lord has been doing in their lives and the lives of the believers in their area since the last time we saw them,” wrote missionaries Ron and Michelle Jennings. Thank the Lord with us for the faith and growth of the Higaunon believers.

FINANCIAL AERIAL ACT (May 24, 2007)

Look, no net! Yessiree ladies and gentlemen, standing solely on a slim line of faith, our budget is balanced. We have no reserves in checking or savings, and no credit left, and the budget is very tight – but thanks to changes in circumstances (gee, I wonder Who did that?), your giving and our judicious use of your gifts, we have been able to slash our monthly costs and balance our budget. So like the aerialist, we’ll just be taking one step of faith at a time. Thank you for praying for provision not simply for our basic needs, but that we might have the funds to be effective in ministry.

OK, I’M COOL AGAIN (May 23, 2007)

Thank you for praying. Our on-again, off-again need for help with cooling is off again. That is, our air conditioning needs are met, which is a big deal on the third floor in Florida. Thanks!

NEW FOLLOWERS (May 17, 2007)

Pray that Valentin and Cuca discover the joy of being growing followers of Christ. Pray that Nacho has wisdom and insight as he helps Ted and Tim translate God’s Word into the Tarahumara language of Mexico.

SOME DAY THIS WILL BE FUNNY ... (May 16, 2007)

You may recall that one way our air conditioning needs were met was through receiving a used air conditioner. Now that's acting up. Please pray that it can be repaired, or that God provides funds for another replacement.

AN OPPORTUNE TIME (May 15, 2007)

This coming January will mark 10 years in ministry at the NTM USA home office. We are trying to lay the groundwork so that the next 10 more years are even more effective than the first 10.

Our first goal is to get to 10 years. One generous gift has given us enough funds to keep going for one more month. So this would be an opportune time for you to prayerfully consider investing in our ministry, to share this opportunity with others, and to pray for God to move hearts to give.

We deeply appreciate those who are glad to have opportunities to put God’s money where His heart is: in planting churches among unreached tribal people. Explore options for giving >>

THANKFUL (May 15, 2007)

Pray that we would be as thankful for the Word of God in our language as Melki is to have it in his language, Lauje. The Indonesia man helped translate much of the New Testament.

I'M COOL! (May 10, 2007)

Thank you for praying about our home cooling situation. We were given gifts that enabled us to buy an air conditioner and a couple of ceiling fans.

We are encouraged, and continuing to pray for the funds for oral surgery for Brynna. Thank you for praying with us.

ON THE WAY HOME (May 10, 2007)

Please pray for a safe trip for Julie's brother, Kyle, as he drives home after coming down for Jackie's and Meghan's graduation. Julie's mom is still around for a week or so, and the graduations were great.

LEARNING THE LANGUAGE (May 3, 2007)

Pray for George and Ginny Olson as they learn the Tagalog language in preparation for ministry in the Philippines. It’s a lot of hard work, punctuated by a few funny mistakes.

OTHER BELIEVERS STEP UP (May 2, 2007)

LEARNING TO READ (May 1, 2007)

For the first time ever, the Dinangat people of Papua New Guinea began learning to read and write their own language yesterday. Pray for missionaries Jeremiah Markley and Gary Smith as they teach this skill that is crucial to planting a church among the Dinangats.

GRADUATING ... ? (May 1, 2007)

Please pray that everything will get worked out for our oldest daughter, Jackie, to graduate Friday as planned. from the University of Central Florida. She's trying to work out a last-minute glitch.

ONE DOWN! (May 1, 2007)

Thank you for praying in regard to our air conditioner situation. We have been given one used unit, which means we need only one more. We'd like to increase the effectiveness and efficiency with a couple of ceiling fans as well, but one more relatively large window unit is the priority.

STILL GOING AT 70 (April 26, 2007)

Trinitario believers Nati, 70, and his wife, Cristina, minister to 77 of their peoples’ villages in Bolivia. Pray for strength and health, and for younger Trinitario believers to join them in serving God.

DISTRACTIONS (April 25, 2007)

Several financial needs threaten to distract us at the moment. The most immediate:

Air conditioning for our living room, dining room and kitchen. Our window units have died, and temperatures are supposed to be in the 90s this week.

Oral surgery to remove our youngest daughter’s wisdom teeth.

We’re also concerned because, although a relative paid for soccer camp for our daughter, our son would also like to go; and because we need funds this fall to visit individuals and churches who support us, and perhaps find additional support.

Please pray that we can focus on carrying out the ministry God has called us to, and pray that God will move His people to meet these needs.

BELIEFS EXACT A HEAVY TOLL (April 19, 2007)

A little girl died even though she probably could have been saved with rehydration fluids. Shamans told the family, Southern Tepehuans in Mexico, that it was too late. Pray that God will use even this tragic event to bring Southern Tepehuans to Himself. Pray for missionaries Andrew and Anne Marie Ferguson as they work to bring God’s light to the Southern Tepehuan people.

A PROMISE TO OUR SON (April 19, 2007)

When a relative graciously provided for our youngest daughter, Brynna, to go to a great soccer camps this summer, we told our son, Evan, that we’d find a way to get him to a local soccer camp this summer as well. Perhaps that was a rash promise, considering our financial condition. But he does without a lot for the sake of our ministry already, and I don’t want him to have to stay home while Brynna goes camp. Thank God with us for providing for Brynna; please pray that God will make a way for us to get Evan to camp.

HOUSING FOR JACKIE (April 18, 2007)

Please pray with us that all the details can be worked out for Jackie to have a place to live near us after she graduates in May. Her long illness has left her disabled and unable to drive, and her disability payments are far too little for her to pay rent in this area. With her volunteering, we’re hoping an apartment will open up here at the NTM USA home office. Unfortunately, so many missionary families here are so poorly supported that there is great demand for the available inexpensive housing.

PRAY FOR TRIBAL CHURCH LEADERS (April 17, 2007)

Please pray for strength of character, wisdom and discernment for the tribal people who are leading their own churches among the Manobo people of the Philippines, the Tobos of Papua New Guinea, the Semandangs of Indonesia and the Kuna people of Panama.

JUST DOWN THE ROAD ... (April 17, 2007)

Down the road from Virginia Tech -- just a quarter-mile from where the shootings took place yesterday -- is the office where Patrick Hatcher works.

You may recall me mentioning Patrick. He's in partnership development in order to come and join us in ministry in Florida. Today Patrick wrote:

"Please ask any and every one to pray that this tragedy opens doors for the spreading of the Gospel. I’ve already had the opportunity to speak with several people about what happens when you die .... Several local pastors and campus missionaries will have opportunities to work in counseling centers and speak to groups in the next few days."

TEACHING ABROAD A PROBABILITY (April 16, 2007)

Meghan, our second-oldest daughter, has gone from thinking about teaching English overseas to seriously considering it. She may teach English in China or Vietnam for a year after she graduates from the University of Central Florida in May with a degree in elementary education. Pray for wisdom and discernment as she makes her decision.

COMMON SENSE (April 12, 2007)

EVAN DID WELL (February 26, 2007)

Thank you for praying for our son, Evan, during the spelling bee on Friday. He did well, and we're proud of him. Like most of the kids at the event, he simply misspelled a word he knew.

JACKIE VOLUNTEERING (February 23, 2007)

Jackie, our oldest daughter, has started writing an article or two for New Tribes Mission, and hopes to get more involved as a volunteer after she graduates this spring. Pray that we can get her housing locally; she is still disabled from Lyme disease and, among other things, cannot drive.

BAD NEWS, GOOD NEWS ON BRYNNA (February 21, 2007)

We have received bad news and good news about Brynna, our youngest daughter. An MRI showed a bulging disc in her neck. She had a car accident in October, and has been having headaches since then. However, last week she started seeing a chiropractor and she is already seeing improvement.

You may also recall that she plays on a premier youth soccer team, whose season resumes March 3. The chiropractor told her she can keep playing, if she is careful. Careful is not a word I would use to describe Brynna’s style of play, so we’d appreciate your prayers for wisdom and protection on the field as well.

STEPPING TOWARD MISSIONS? (February 20, 2007)

Meghan, our second-oldest daughter, is well into her student teaching internship in an elementary school. She's strongly considering teaching as an overseas ministry after she graduates this spring. Please pray for clear guidance from God, and pray that her internship continues to go well.

PROVISION (January 25, 2007)
God provides for our ministry through the gifts of His people. We are thankful to Him and you. Our current income is insufficient for our expenses, and far below our recommended support level. We are taking steps to try to change that, and are tempted to be discouraged because our plans are not working out. But that just means God has a better plan. Please pray.

HEADACHES (January 24, 2007)
We appreciate your prayers for Brynna about the headaches she is still having, which started with her car accident in October. Doctors last week were unable to find any physical damage, so she is undergoing more therapy. Please keep praying that the headaches will end.

TESTING TIME (January 23, 2007)
Please pray for our youngest daughter, Brynna, as she takes the SAT on Saturday. A good score, combined with community service hours and good grades, will make her eligible for a full-tuition scholarship at a Florida public university. She’s smart, but tests fluster her. Pray that she will be calm, collected and able to think clearly during the test.

REFRESHING -- THANKS! (January 22, 2007)
Thank you for praying about all the family events we’re involved in. This past weekend we were split between a soccer tournament and highland games. It was a bit tiring, but refreshing as well, and we credit God working through your prayers. Please pray that God continues to use these times to refresh us, and to minister to others.

GETTING AWAY (January 22, 2007)
Thank you for also praying about our efforts to get away a bit. We’re in the process of requesting a stay in a cabin for the family this summer. More immediately, Ian is planning to take a solo backpacking trip next month, in order to spend some quality time with God. Pray that the trip works out, and that it is a good time of closeness with God.

BUILDING THE TEAM (January 19, 2007)
We need to get out and encourage our teammates and find new team members, and we’re in the beginning steps of planning for that in November. Pray that arrangements and finances fall into place for that to happen.

MEETING NEEDS (January 18, 2007)
Please pray that we will be financially able to pay for equipment and travel that we need in order to minister effectively.

MORE HEADACHES (January 18, 2007)
Brynna, our youngest daughter, is still having headaches stemming from her car accident this past fall. She's going to see a neurologist today. Pray that we can get to the bottom of this and get it treated.

WEDNESDAY NIGHT SHAKE-UP (January 17, 2007)
Our church here in Sanford is shaking up the Wednesday night meeting, in a way that should promote attendance, prayer and discipleship. Pray for Ian to have wisdom to find the right roles to encourage that.

VACATION? (January 17, 2007)
We’re trying to make vacation plans this week, contingent on being able to stay in a cabin rent-free. Pray that this will work out, and that if it does, that God will provide through His people for the costs of getting to the cabin.

WINTER MEANS BUSY IN FLORIDA (January 16, 2007)
We’ve entered a busy season for us, with family events relating to soccer, bagpiping and outings. Pray that we’ll be able to keep an eye on God’s priorities, and find refreshment.

INTERNSHIP BEGINS (January 16, 2007)
Meghan, our second-oldest, began her teaching internship this week. Pray for the many adjustments she’ll have to make.

PLANS OF MEN? (January 4, 2007)
Our plans for 2007 include a family vacation, a trip to minister overseas, and a trip west to encourage team mates and build our team. Please pray; we are believing God to make all three happen, even though our resources won’t cover one. Find out more -- read the story >>

MAKING GOOD CHOICES (January 3, 2007)

Pray that Julie and I will take wise advantage of the opportunities before us this year. Pray for discernment to know which are right for us – the ones God has put there for us -- and for determination and courage to press forward with them.

MEGHAN TRYING TO DECIDE (January 3, 2007)
Meghan, our second-oldest daughter, has just returned from the Urbana missions conference for college students, and is trying to decide what shes' going to do when she graduates this spring. She's between teaching in the Orlando, Florida, area, or going overseas to teach in a mission school. Please pray for Gods' leading to be clear.

CO-WORKER BUILDING TEAM (January 2, 2007)
Patrick Hatcher is in the process of finding support in order to join our team here in Communications. He’s a trained, experienced technical writer, and he would be able to take part of the workload Ian is now carrying. Pray that God moves the hearts of people to partner with the Hatchers in ministry. Find out more at his website >>

HEADING TO URBANA (December 27, 2006)
Please pray for Meghan, our second-oldest daughter. Right now she's on her way to the Urbana conference, a major missions conference for college students, and she's seriously considering pursuing missions after she graduates in the spring.

PAPUA NEW GUINEA - Abau tribe (December 26, 2006)
Praise! Inowai, whom you prayed for by name, is among the Abaus who have placed his faith in Christ. Find out more -- read the story >>

PAPUA NEW GUINEA - Abau tribe (December 20, 2006)
Praise -- the Abaus have heard the Good News in their own language!

Pray for the missionaries to have discernment and the right words as they continue to talk with the Abaus. It takes a long time for six people to hold one-on-one talks with more than 200 people! Pray that the Gospel will be clear to each of the Abaus who heard it.

Pray also for the new Abau church. This is just the beginning of a journey. The missionaries are there to make disciples, and plant a church that continues that work not only among the Abaus, but among neighboring tribes as well. Find out more -- read the story >>

PAPUA NEW GUINEA - Abau tribe (December 18, 2006)
Thank you for praying for the Abau people of Papua New Guinea as they have the opportunity to respond to the Gospel!

I just heard from missionary Frank Tertel that Monday evening (Monday morning in the USA), he and his co-workers shared about Jesus’ death on the cross.

Tuesday morning – which is this evening in the USA – they’ll be teaching about the resurrection and ascension of Jesus.

“After attending the meeting on Tuesday morning the people are faced with a decision that affects their life and destiny. We are trusting that the Lord would draw many, young and old to Himself,” Frank wrote.

And Tuesday evening – which is Tuesday morning in the USA – “we will have a night for testimonies and for answering any remaining questions concerning the facts of the Gospel,” he wrote.

Then each member of the missionary team will spend time with individual Abaus to see what they understand and help make the message clear. That could take the remainder of the week, and longer.

“Please pray for us as we ask questions and review parts of the teaching with different people,” Frank wrote.

Here are some Abaus who seem to be very open to the Gospel whom you can pray for by name. In some cases, the ages are approximate.

PAPUA NEW GUINEA - Abau tribe (December 15, 2006)
Would you get up a little early on Sunday morning and pray for the Abau people?

Thursday evening they heard the fourth-to-last evangelistic Bible lesson. Sunday evening in Papua New Guinea – which is Sunday morning in the USA – they’ll hear the lesson that takes them right up to the crucifixion of Jesus Christ.

Monday evening they’ll hear about the death, burial and resurrection of our Lord.

Tuesday evening missionaries will review all the lessons they’ve heard, from Creation to the Resurrection, tying pictures and prophecies and promises to the reality of what Jesus has done for us.

How great is it to be able to pray along as the Gospel is shared with a tribe for the very first time?

You know what else is great? Giving others the opportunity to pray along. Use the links to the right to e-mail this, or to print it out and share it, or call people, or talk to people at church on Sunday. No, sorry, that’s wrong. And talk to people at church at Sunday.

And then we get the really fun opportunity to tell them how their prayers were answered! Find out more -- read the story >>

PAPUA NEW GUINEA - Abau tribe (December 12, 2006)
Please pray for the Abau people of Papua New Guinea. Missionaries are in the final days of teaching evangelistic Bible lessons, and expect to reach the last lesson on Tuesday, Dec. 19. Find out more -- read the story >>

FOLLOWING UP ON FAMILY (December 11, 2006)
Jackie, our oldest daughter, is done with her fall semester and the University of Central Florida and staying with us for the holidays. She has one semester left. Pray that all her class arrangements go properly so she can indeed finish school this spring.

Meghan, our second-oldest, is also done with her fall semester at UCF, and will be with us for Christmas. Then she leaves for Urbana '06, a major missions conference. Pray that God will lead her to the opportunity He has for her.

Brynna, our youngest daughter and second-youngest, is in her final week of classes before winter break at Seminole High School. She's having headaches again, which may stem from her September car accident. Please pray.

Evan, our youngest and our only son, is also finishing up for the semester. Thank God with us for improvements in his attitude toward school work.

SHOWING MATURITY (December 7, 2006)
Thank God with us for the work He continues to do in our youngest daughter, Brynna. At her high school soccer game last night, a fight broke out on the pitch while Brynna was on the bench. Brynna encouraged her teammates on the bench to stay seated and quiet. She’s also faced some frustrating situations with a good attitude, allowing her to be a good example and a witness of Christ to her teammates.

ALMOST FINALIZED (December 6, 2006)
Meghan is done with her finals, and Jackie has only one more to go on Friday, and both feel they've done well so far. Thanks for praying.

YEAR-END PRIORITIES (December 5, 2006)
Ian has a great many projects to complete that are timed to the end of the year or the beginning of the year. Pray that he’ll be able to prioritize them according to God’s timetable.

TEACHING AGAIN (December 4, 2006)
Julie is now serving at the mission school again, because of an unexpected personnel change. She’s teaching sixth- and seventh-grade math. Please pray for the students as they make transitions to new teachers, and pray for the teachers. This also leaves us a bit short-handed in proofreading; please pray that we will find help in that area.

FINALS WEEK (December 4, 2006)
Praise the Lord -- this is finals week for Jackie and Meghan, our two oldest. Why is that a praise? Because all is going well, and this means they each have one semester left before they graduate from the University of Central Florida.

DEALING WITH DIFFICULTIES (November 27, 2006)
Ian’s been helping deal with a difficult NTM personnel issue. Of course, there’s little more that we can share about this. Pray for God’s wisdom to know the right things to do, and the strength to do them. Pray that Ian will be able to rest in God, and really know that He has everything under control.

Please pray also that we’d be able to “get away” and spend some quality time as a couple or as a family. In addition to his regular duties, Ian is on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week. This situation arose over the Thanksgiving weekend – right after Ian said, “Wow, it’s really nice to have a few extra days to spend away from the office and with family.” Primarily for financial reasons, even though we’ve tried several times, we haven’t been able to get away as a couple or a family for years.

Please don’t misunderstand us. It’s a pleasure to be able to serve God, and Ian’s also been able to do a lot of traveling in the course of his ministry, so we’re certainly not complaining. But with this most recent situation, getting away has progressed past from being a really good idea that would enable Ian to be more effective in ministry, to being a definite need. Please pray.

THANKFUL FOR YOU, AND MORE (November 21, 2006)
We thank God for you and the roles you play in our ministry. We also thank God for tribal believers who are our fellow-laborers -- and you can too! Find out more -- read the story >>

UNITED STATES (November 13, 2006)
This is the kind of week I dread: A lot of work piled up from last week, and something going on in our family every evening.

It's not really the busy-ness and workload I dread. It's the fact that moving so fast makes it more difficult to keep my priorities in sync with God's priorities. In God's economy, it's often not as much about getting a lot done, as it is about doing a few particular things well.

Please pray that this week, we as a couple would keep our focus on God so we are in tune with what He wants done well.

UNITED STATES (November 10, 2006)
Please pray for Ian's continuing recovery from a bad cold that sidelined him for three days this week. He is responsible for so many writing and editing tasks that losing three days creates an added burden as he tries to recover.

UNITED STATES (November 3, 2006)
Julie and a co-worker, Hedy Enns, are finding it especially challenging to proofread the revised Yagaria New Testament.

Proofreading a New Testament is always a big job that has to be done very painstakingly, but there’s more to it this time.

The Yagaria Church is mature, with many good readers. Any errors in the translation will detract from the Word of God. Also, the Yagaria believers are sure to compare this version with the previous version, and will expect it to be better in every way.

Pray for clarity of mind and sight for Julie and Hedy.

BRYNNA'S FINE (November 3, 2006)
Thank the Lord with us that Brynna has recovered from her car accident. Her neck pain is gone, and her neck has full mobility again. Find out more -- read the story >>

FOLLOWING UP AFTER ACCIDENT (September 18, 2006)
Please pray for Brynna; she continues to be in a great deal of pain from the accident. We’re hoping to take her to the doctor Tuesday.

Thank the Lord with us that all is going well on the insurance end of things. The driver who hit Brynna has acknowledged that she was at fault, and her insurance company is taking responsibility for any medical bills and is supposed to contact us soon as to what they will pay for Brynna’s car, which was totaled. How much they end up paying seems almost unimportant when you consider what a nightmare the whole insurance thing could have been. Almost, I said.

Thank the Lord also that a friend is now providing for most of the cost of tires for our car.

Pray that we will have wisdom about what to do with our van, and what do with the money provided in payment for Brynna’s car. Find out more -- read the story >>

CAR CRASH AFTERMATH (September 15, 2006)
Thank God with us that the accident our youngest daughter was in today resulted in no serious injuries. Pray for healing, and for Brynna, who is quite shaken up. Pray also for our vehicle situation -- her car is not drivable, our van is broken down and our Focus desperately needs new tires. Find out more -- read the story >>

PARTNER AND GO (August 17, 2006)
Please pray as Ian and his co-workers prepare two important new booklets for people who want to get involved with New Tribes Mission, one for people who want to pray and give, another for people who want to become missionaries. Pray that the booklets help people act on their God-given desires to be part of what He is doing.

ADJUSTING TO ASTHMA (August 17, 2006)
Please pray for our youngest daughter, Brynna, as she adjusts to exercise-induced asthma. She's had shortness of breath on several occasions, but it didn't seem serious until she had a full-blown attack this past Saturday. Now she has an inhaler and she's trying to learn to adjust, even as she plays club soccer and prepares for the high school soccer season.

ONE DOWN, TWO TO GO! (August 16, 2006)
Thanks for praying! The refrigerator problems we mentioned in our last prayer request are being taken care of under warranty. Our van is still broken down and our car still needs tires, and we're trusting God to take care of those in His time.

BIG THINGS AHEAD (August 9, 2006)
God must be doing something big. Our van is broken down, our car needs new tires, and today the freezer side of our refrigerator stopped working. I know God will take care of us; I'd like you to pray that we'd know what He wants to be happening in us.
