CHURCH AMONG GUANANOS MATURING

Lindy and Carol Drake

May 13, 2008

by Dena McMaster

The Guanano church planting team in Brazil is taking the next step in developing a mature church among the Guanano people.

Recently, missionary Lindy Drake attended a conference for translation checkers in the USA to learn the principles and procedures needed to improve the Guanano Scripture translation. He has now returned to Brazil and is working on putting those principles in action as he continues to translate the Bible into the Guanano language.

Meanwhile his coworker Barry Spor has been teaching the book of 1Timothy to Guanano believers. He majored on the qualifications for leaders.

The team desires to see the Lord raise up gifted Guanano men to assume leadership in the church and use the translated Scriptures to teach the believers and reach those Guananos who have not yet trusted Christ.

Pray that Lindy will accurately and clearly translate God's Word into the Guanano language. Pray also that God will burden faithful Guanano men to shepherd and teach their Guanano brothers and sisters in Christ.
