CHIMANE TRIBE LEARNS MUCH IN NEW CLASS

November 21, 2006

by Ian Fallis

Each morning, missionary Dan Burke is accomplishing several things at once with a new class for four men from Bolivia's Chimane tribe.

Dan and the four Chimane believers are reading through the Old Testament in Spanish, talking about what it means, and then translating it into Chimane.

This helps them learn new truths from God's Word; grammar in both Spanish and Chimane; and basic principles of translating Scripture.

Dan is also working with Edgar, a Chimane believer, on a Bible commentary in the Chimane language. Judy, Dan's wife, is getting the commentary into the computer.

Judy is also holding a Bible study for Chimane women on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons, and Dan and Judy are both rejoicing that God has provided another Chimane man, Herman, to help with Bible translation.

Pray that not only will the Old Testament be translated accurately; pray that God's Word continues to change lives among the Chimanes.
