Just in time for Christmas, a lightning strike knocked a radio station, which carries Bible teaching in Spanish and tribal languages, off the air.
"Bad news depends on how you look at things I suppose," wrote NTM missionary Bruce Johnson, who is the technician for the station. "For God's children it is usually opportunities to trust Him in some new areas."
While many tribal people and other Bolivians enjoy -- and are probably missing -- the messages and music, the problem did not catch God by surprise.
"Now it is time to trust the Lord for a new transmitter," Bruce wrote.
The station's staff has discussed the possibilities of broadcasting with more power, or adding an AM station, to reach more potential listeners.
"Maybe this problem is to see exactly where God would lead us to," Bruce wrote. "Our whole desire is to reach people with the Gospel. There are so many without in our area and this station is vital to them!"
Please pray that a new transmitter can soon be purchased and installed at the station. Ask God for wisdom to know His will regarding a more powerful transmitter or an AM transmitter. Pray also that a spare transmitter can be purchased, so future problems will not keep the station from transmitting.
Please pray for the people who have been served by the station. "With silent radios, they will miss many good programs this time of year," Bruce wrote. Pray that this silence will help them think through what they have heard.
