LIFE AND DEATH SITUATION

Are you ready to die?

I’m guessing your answer will be “NO!” (If it’s not, get in touch with me. We need to talk.)

However, if you’ve placed your faith in Christ, you are ready to die. Here, you’re living for Him; there, you’re living with Him.

But Sigapiya is not ready like you are.

Sigapiya is a member of one of two warring clans among his people, the Dao tribe of Indonesia. He came to missionary Scott Phillips to get treatment for a deep head wound.

Scott knew Sigapiya wanted something else as well. Something Scott could not give him.

You see, by treating Sigapiya, Scott could have implied he was supporting Sigapiya’s clan against Sidaomenaa’s clan. That would have been all they needed to feel justified in making a revenge raid on their enemies.

"We love all of the Dao people," Scott told the Daos. "We don't want to see any of you die. We are here in order to tell you what will happen after death and to help bring an end to your killing each other, not to support it."

"If Sidaomenaa and his clan come back to finish you off, what will happen to you after they kill you? You have not yet heard God's talk and maybe this is the very reason why you didn't die during their first attack. It may very well have been that God wants you to hear His message and so He watched over you so that you did not die. You are not yet prepared for death!"

The missionaries are not sure whether Sigapiya and his clan will come when they begin teaching evangelistic Bible lessons in June. "But one thing we do know is that Satan will not give up these precious people without a fight," Scott wrote.

"We desperately need your prayers … before we begin teaching in the first Dao village. Satan is doing all he can to divide the Dao people against one another and create confusion and war in between the various Dao families and clans.”

Thank you for taking part in our ministry, so we can be part of the church planting team that helps Scott and his co-workers among the Dao people of Indonesia.

As we remember the price that Jesus paid on Good Friday, and the resurrection victory on Sunday, let's also remember that many tribes still need to hear.
