Daily Scripture

"The king shall have joy in Your strength, O Lord; and in your salvation how greatly shall he rejoice! You have given him his heart's desire, and have not withheld the request of his lips. Selah."

Psalm 21:1-2

BECAUSE YOU PRAYED

A Abau man

A Abau man

December 26, 2006

by Ian Fallis

Inowai, one of the Abaus you prayed for by name, was at every Bible lesson the missionaries presented.

The blind 55-year-old man was led to the lesson each day, and after he heard the Gospel he told the missionaries that because of the work Jesus did on the cross, his sins were “hidden” behind Christ’s perfection.

As they talked with him further, it was clear that Inowai had placed his faith in Christ. And he was far from alone. Missionary Kelly Luyendyk shared testimonies from several of the Abaus he talked with.

“Fifty-year-old Weima shook my hand, saying to me, ‘I know that Jesus is standing in my place for my bad things. I do not have to think about the place of fire but when I die I can sit down good with God,’” Kelly wrote.

“Yafeno … testified, ‘I know that I will go to be with God when I die.’ I asked him why he thought that. He said quietly, ‘Because God’s son Jesus has paid for my bad ways. His blood ran out and paid for my bad ways.’

“Powi, a perennially self-righteous man, said this: ‘I don’t have to work my way to make God happy with me. I am believing that Jesus is my way to God.’”

Praise God for the work He is doing among the Abaus! And you had the opportunity to be part of that work. This is the type of thing that makes my ministry so rewarding – helping you connect with the great things God is doing, and giving you opportunities to take part.

And when you take part in our ministry, you give others opportunities to take part. (So, I give you opportunities so you can give us opportunities to give others opportunities … oh, my head hurts!) Anyway, here are some … drat, I wish there was a good synonym for this … opportunities:
