A little about me:
Mom and Dad were in training with New Tribes Mission when my twin (Amber) and I were born so I’ve been in NTM all of my life.
We went to Indonesia when I was 8 years old. God gave me a whole new perspective after seeing not only the physical needs, but also the spiritual needs of millions of people in the world. (I remember going back to the U.S. and experiencing a bit of culture shock. How could we be so worried about brand name shoes when many of the Indonesians I knew didn’t even own a pair?) I thank God for the experience!
When I was 11, I was diagnosed with Diabetes type 1 and as the goats and chickens ran through the hospital, we decided to head back to the U.S.
We went on staff at an NTM training center in MO and I finished high school there. I wasn’t one of those kids who got into a lot of trouble but my rebellion was inward. I didn’t know what I wanted to do with my life so I figured I’d go to NTM Bible Institute. I knew deep down that when I was exposed to truth from the Bible, decisions had to be made and I would come out either FOR or AGAINST God.
While at Bible School, “Life” knocked me down and that's when I made the truths of the Bible MINE. God taught me about submitting my time, talents, dreams, hopes, fears, wants, and needs to him! Then God led me through the rest of NTM’s missionary training.
May 2002 I graduated and soon after got really sick, raised prayer/ financial support, and went to NTM’s U.S. headquarters. I ran the garage for 2 years, worked in the Communications department for 3 months, and now am working in NTM Mobilization with short-term mission trips. |
