NTM has established the following guidelines to
assist us in the area of finances.
1. We are clearly dependent upon God to meet our every need. We
acknowledge that without His provision we have no way to continue
individually or corporately.
2. We believe God desires to direct us in what to trust Him for.
We realize the importance of clearly identifying and communicating
needs with NTM family, supporters and interested individuals.
3. Those involved with us in ministry have a part in trusting
God to meet specific needs and share in the blessing of seeing
God's answer to prayer.
4. We should evidence contentment in our financial situation,
knowing God will supply our needs in His way and in His time.
5. We believe that the information we present regarding needed
finances and resources should always be accurate, so that potential
donors will clearly understand what they have opportunity to give
toward.
6. We believe it is wise to avoid any agreements that would result
in obligations that may compromise NTM's purpose, values
or strategy.
7. We recognize our God-given responsibility to be good stewards
of His finances and resources. This involves wise planning and
careful use of God's provisions.
8. We believe it is desirable to be free of debt. However, we
understand the necessity at times to incur debt, especially when
finances are needed to accomplish larger projects. Any debt should
be reasonable so that repayment will not place undue strain on
NTM's or the individual's budget. Every effort should
be made to clear the debt as soon as possible.
9. Our desire is to build relationships and to share what God
is doing through the work of NTM, not to turn to people or organizations
primarily for the purpose of gaining money.
10. We want to demonstrate confidence in God and respect for potential
donors by not involving ourselves in solicitation. By solicitation
we mean:
- Manipulating potential donors through crisis appeals that
imply that what happens in God's work is dependent upon
the donor's contribution, or that a certain amount of
money is required in order for the work of NTM or the missionary
to continue. Offering a gift as an incentive for making a
donation.
- Pressuring a decision from a potential donor by not concluding
a conversation until some promise of support is given.
- Exaggeration in any form in order to make the potential
donor more inclined to give.
- Making strong suggestions, whether verbally or by using
tear-off portions in letters or separate pledge cards, on
how much and how often to give.
11. We are confident that God teaches us through times of need
to depend more upon Him. Spiritual lessons as well as material
provisions are gifts from our loving Heavenly Father.
