A Bena Bena woman told missionary Dawn Foster she will attend every single Bible lesson the missionaries hold.
"Even if everyone else doesn't come, I will be there," she said.
"We have been asking God that He would stir the hearts of these people, and prepare them for the greatest message ever communicated," wrote Dawn's husband, Rich. "He is answering our prayers!"
Many Bena Benas are seeing the sinfulness and emptiness of life without the truth. They are ashamed that some of their own teenagers recently stole from neighboring villages. They are frustrated that shame no longer makes everyone conform. They are divided over how to deal with the youngsters.
"The present-day confusion is disheartening to most," Rich wrote. "As onlookers, we really see it as the spiritually blind leading the spiritually blind - groping in the darkness and having no hope.
Pray for the woman who spoke with Dawn. She said she is empty and looking for something. She is hungry for "God's talk." Others also have told the Fosters they are waiting to hear the message the missionaries have come to teach.
Pray that God will continue to whet the Bena's appetite for truth. Pray for the Fosters, David and Wendy Lee and Russell and Sharla Wiesner as the team hopes to begin teaching evangelistic Bible lessons in April 2004.
