The first time Derrick heard the gospel was at age ten. He didn't quite understand it and didn't change much. But at age twenty-two, after living a defeated and unfulfilled worldly lifestyle, Derrick heard the gospel again and completely understood it. He then placed his trust in Jesus Christ for the death, burial, and resurrection on his behalf as the only payment for my sin. He was further challeged at NTBI Waukesha to take the gospel to a people group who had never heard before.
In 1985, when LaShawn was four years old, her family attended New Tribes Mission Training. She is uncertain to the date and exact details of her salvation; however, she does know that it was in that year that she saw her need for a Savior. That is when she put her full trust and faith in Christ's death on the cross, His burial and resurrection as the only acceptable payment for her sins. She was challenged into missions after going on an outreach trip in the ninth grade to a village in Papua New Guinea.
