When Kletus, an Inapang man in Papua New Guinea, helped missionary Bill Housley translate Exodus 19 and 20 into his language, he saw that he was in big trouble with God.
Kletus told Bill, "A couple of nights ago I was lying in my bed thinking about the string bands we have around here. We have competitions in which we judge each string band. I was a judge in one and I judged the bands according to my thinking. As I lay there in bed I began to think about the way God is going to judge us. He is going to judge us straight. … God does know everything. Everything we do is in a clear place to him and in that day, what we did will be put in a clear place and we are all going to be in trouble."
Kletus is a potential village leader and very respected around the community. He has a soft heart toward the teaching he has heard so far.
Missionary Daniel Moore is preparing evangelistic lessons and Bill is translating the Scriptures. Bill and Daniel will begin teaching an evangelistic Bible series to the whole village next month. At that time their four Inapang co-workers, Kletus, Alex, Markus and Amplankon, will hear the lessons in their entirety and understand God's Word more fully.
Pray for God's wisdom for Bill and Daniel to present a clear, understandable message to the Inapang people. Pray, also, for their Inapang co-workers who are beginning to understand but are waiting for the truth.
