At 7:30 a.m. Jan. 28 in Papua New Guinea the Dinangat tribal people will gather to hear the first of the evangelistic Bible lesson series.
When missionaries Ralf and Eli Schlegel, Gary and Esther Smith and Jeremiah and April Markley announced to the Dinangats a few weeks ago that the meetings would soon begin, the people were so excited they asked to hear the announcement again this week.
"I couldn't believe it," wrote Gary, "and wondered what God has in store. If they were this excited about the announcement, I can't wait to see what happens in the real teaching."
The missionaries will teach a series of 70 chronological lessons Monday through Friday mornings until around mid-May.
The missionaries moved into the tribe in 2003. Since then they have studied the culture and language, taught the Dinangats to read and write, translated Scripture, and prepared Bible lessons, all with the goal of teaching an unreached tribal group God's Word in their own language.
"This month this dream of ours will come to reality and we are at the edge of our seats," wrote Ralf Schlegel. "Therefore we want to ask you to storm the gates of Heaven with us! Help us to beg God for the souls of Dinangat people."
Pray for the Smiths and Schlegels as they prepare to teach the lessons. Pray also that God will prepare the hearts of the Dinangats to hear and understand His Word.
