Just seven more Bible lessons and missionary Tom Brendle will finish the Old and New Testament review for the Siawi people in Papua New Guinea.
The teaching will be interrupted when Tom, along with his Siawi translation co-workers, fly out to a team translation workshop. They will spend time not only learning Bible translation principles but also learning to work together as a team.
Tom is struggling with postponing the teaching right now when the Siawi believers need to be grounded, but the Scripture translation also needs to be finished.
Also, the faith of the Siawi people has been tested as whooping cough spread through the village. Many of them are just learning to trust God in situations where they would traditionally turn to sorcery and fetishes for help.
"Pray for us as we try to balance the work that needs to be done." writes Tom, "At times it can be overwhelming if we look at the job in our own strength. I need four 'Tom clones': one to write lessons, one to teach, one to disciple and one to attend the translation workshop, oh and one to do all the maintenance work that comes up."
Pray that the Siawi believers will continue to learn to trust God in difficult situations. Pray also for Tom as he tries to accomplish all the tasks before him.
