Traveling by canoe, motorcycle with a side car, overcrowded buses and jeeps, missionary Erik Peterson learned some interesting things on a trip to the northern part of the Philippines.
Erik learned that getting from one place to another can be quite an adventure on the steep curves and bumpy roads. He also met several government officials including a local mayor while traveling.
He and co-workers were visiting tribal groups in the north to determine where a team of missionaries could begin a church planting ministry.
"This trip certainly gave Erik a good idea of what a tribal work up north would be like," wrote his wife Dana.
The Petersons desire be part of a tribal church planting team. They are currently studying Tagalog, the main language in the Philippines. Once they reach proficiency in Tagalog, they will move to another area and begin to learn a tribal language.
Pray that Erik and Dana will be diligent in language study and that they will be an example of Christ's love in the relationships they are building. Pray also that God will direct them to the missionary team they will serve with and to the tribal group He wants them to reach.
