God encouraged missionaries Tom and Danielle Brendle in Papua New Guinea by sending them a Siawi lady who was seeking God.
After an episode in the middle of the night, Tom and Danielle began asking themselves, "Why are we here? Is it worth it?"
The next afternoon God sent Fukowo to their door. She is a young woman in her 20's for whom they prayed for years. She had fallen into a lifestyle of sin and promiscuity. But now she wanted to ask them about what they had been teaching. She recounted the Bible lessons to them and asked many questions. "Will God accept me since I have sinned by sleeping around?" she asked. "I am afraid to continue in my sinful life style."
"We were rejoicing as we heard her talk about the Savior and her desire to follow Him," wrote Tom. "We believe she is trusting in Christ and has a simple understanding of the Savior. It is worth it!"
Tom and Danielle were encouraged to hear her talk about a couple of Siawi ladies who had been teaching her about God.
"My friends, Aiwau and Sitei, tell me about what you have been teaching from the Bible," she said. "When we are pounding sago they teach me God's talk and when we are sitting in the house they tell me God's talk."
Praise the Lord for Aiwau and Sitei's desire to see their friend trust Christ as her Savior.
Pray that Fukowo will grow in the Lord. She and several other Siawi women cannot read. Pray that one of the older, literate women would be willing to teach the others to read.
