After a three week break, missionaries resumed Bible teaching last week among the Siawi believers in Papua New Guinea with a review of God's creation.
Tobias marveled over one of the illustrations that Tom Brendle used to show God's power.
Tom held up an inflatable globe and told the Siawis that this represented the world that God created. Tom told them that if he wanted it to stay in the air he would have to tie it up with a string. He then emphasized how God hung the world in the black sky by his strength.
Tobias came to see Tom the next morning, still stewing on the fact that this huge earth hanging in the sky is not attached to anything.
"We talked about God's power [and] I told them that we had much to rejoice about," wrote Tom.
The Siawis have shown much confusion about the meaning of rejoicing, praising God and worship.
"What does it mean to rejoice?" Tobias asked. "When do we rejoice? How do we rejoice? Does that mean that the Holy Spirit causes us to sing and dance? What about those people who say the Holy Spirit makes them spin around and faint?"
"The Lord gave me a wide open door to share truth from God's Word about worship and God being a God of order," Tom wrote.
When Tobias left Tom's office, Mesiau was waiting to ask questions. "What happens to a person who sins after he has believed?"
Tom was pleased to see yet another Siawi believer hungry to know the truth.
Please pray for Tom as he teaches and answers the Siawis' questions, that he will have wisdom and present God's truth clearly.
