Quietness overcame the meeting house as Siawi men and women contemplated what they had been hearing. Missionary Tom Brendle described it as a "morning like none we have had before."
As they listened to the lesson about Sodom and Gomorrah, some Siawis began realizing that they were wavering, like Lot's wife, between two thinkings. The lesson was striking home more than any previous lesson that Tom and his co-worker Jason Swanson had taught.
The Siawis are being challenged to make choices, and they are wrestling between their traditional thinking and the revelations that are coming from God's Word.
God's Word is also expanding the Siawis world view as it ministers to them on a personal level.
As Tom and Jason taught on the tower of Babel, Kwaelom asked, "Why do we have many languages in PNG and you only have one in America?"
Tom wrote, "It was fun to tell him of the many native American languages and South American languages as well as the some 5,000 different languages in the world today."
God's Word is becoming more than a story to the Siawis. They are beginning to see the history of God's interacting with man.
Tom wrote, "As the Siawis see themselves a part of the world instead of an anomaly they are able to personalize even more the truth of God's Word.
Pray that God's Word will continue to become personal and real to the Siawis.
