Siawi believers apply teaching from the book of Acts to their lives while sharing encouragement and faith with each other in Papua New Guinea.
Missionaries Tom and Danielle Brendle were pleasantly surprised to hear Tobias praising the Lord and talking about the Apostle Paul with other Siawi believers. They exhorted one another and filled each other in on what they'd learned recently.
"Paul was not concerned with stuff," they said. "He didn't even worry about being attacked or killed, only about following Christ."
Retelling stories from Acts, the believers applied the knowledge to themselves. "We also need to be more concerned about following Christ. Paul wasn't ashamed to speak about Christ no matter who he was talking to, even kings. What an example Paul is to us as believers."
After listening for a while, Tom shared that "Paul said to follow me as I follow Christ."
"It was a joy to sit and listen and not be the one teaching as the Siawis are beginning to get excited about their new life in Christ," wrote Tom. "It was thrilling as they were not keeping this truth to themselves."
This weekend Tom and Danielle plan to work on lessons focusing on how the Old Testament points to the Messiah. They hope to begin teaching lessons starting on Monday.
Please pray that the Siawis will continue listening to and applying so avidly God's Word. Jason and Shannon Swanson, the Brendles' coworkers, are returning to the Siawis soon after home assignment. Pray also that they will easily adapt back to life among the Siawis.
