SIAWI TEACHING REACHES OTHER TRIBES

NEWS

Siawis listen to Bible lessons

April 6, 2004

God's Word taught in the Siawi language is reaching three other language groups. People from the Amto and Sorimi tribes, and one woman from another tribe in the Sepik region, also are listening to the teaching five days a week.

Joseph and Alex from the Amto tribe speak fluent Siawi. They take printed lessons from the missionaries to review with their wives, Leti and Regina, to make sure they understand God's Word.

The two men also have been asking deep questions after each teaching session.

Missionary Tom Brendle recently taught from Genesis that God created man in His image so that He could have a relationship with man. Joseph understood that he was not right with God.

"Is there a way that we can become God's right friend now?" he asked.

"We need to lay a strong foundation before we give the answer to man's sin problem," Tom and his wife Danielle wrote. "But these guys are thinking and we are excited."
Joseph and Alex plan to take lesson sheets to the village to teach their own people.

Pray for them to understand God's Word and be saved.
