ANOTHER NEW TESTAMENT BOOK NEARS COMPLETION

NEWS

.

September 25, 2006

by Dena McMaster

Kwaelom, a Siawi believer, and missionary Linda Krieg have worked together to finish the first draft of the book of Revelation. Other Siawi co-workers will now help with comprehension checking and fine turning to make the translation speak clearly to the Siawis of Papua New Guinea.

Revelation is a special challenge and Linda and her Siawi translation team need to find ways to express "beast," "dragon," "the four living creatures," and "feet like polished bronze."

About 55 percent of the Siawi New Testament is now complete but future progress will be slowed because of the need for Linda to devote her energies to her job as a translation and linguistic consultant. Due to the severe shortage of experienced consultants, Linda will be leaving the Siawi ministry to do full-time consultant work.

She asks for prayer that God's truth will shine through the translation even when finding meaning for words that have no equivalent in Siawi. Pray also for the team of faithful Siawi believers who have helped Linda translate the Scriptures.
