The small group of Hewa believers is beginning to look like a church.
"They have continued to meet four days a week to hear God's Word and they seem to be happy to learn more of the truths of Scripture," wrote Jonathan and Susan Kopf.
And the Hewas are doing most of the teaching, because the Kopfs' co-workers, Keith and Angie Copley, are in Australia right now and the Kopfs are preparing for home assignment in the USA this summer.
"Four Hewa men … have eagerly taken it on themselves to teach this little group," Jonathan wrote. He and the men have been meeting each day to read and review the lesson, and then Jonathan, Pol, Buka, Yanis and Eyaka teach together.
"This new method of teaching together as a group has proven to work really well," Jonathan wrote. "Not only does it help the teachers grow as they are in the Word more, but it also has helped to excite the rest of the group as they realize that the truth of the Word is not just something that the missionaries can understand well, but something that they also can take hold of.
"We are very encouraged that though the group of believers is small, they are eager to learn and grow in their new-found faith."
Pray for the new Hewa believers and teachers, and for Jonathan as he works with them. Pray also for the Copleys, who are in Australia for the arrival of their fourth child.
