Excitement flowed through the crowd when the Hewas heard that Jesus had complete power over evil spirits.
The Hewas are completely engulfed with the spirit world. Whether they're planting a garden or building a house, they are constantly communicating with the spirits in an effort to appease them.
The people have been enthralled with the stories that missionaries Jonathan Kopf and Keith Copley have been teaching in their evangelistic Bible lessons.
As the missionaries sit with the people in their homes they can see how the teaching is starting to open the eyes of those who are hearing.
"OK, the John that baptized," Buka said, "he was God's prophet and when he saw Jesus he said, 'There is the lamb of God that has come to take away our sins.' If Jesus is God's lamb then what is going to happen? In the Old Testament, when a person sinned they brought the lamb, placed their hand on the lamb to symbolize the transference of sin and then the lamb was killed and sacrificed to save the individual."
Buka and his wife, Angele, were systematically going over what they had heard last week when Buka asked Keith the question that was troubling him.
"Is Jesus going to die?"
Keith responded, "If all of our sin is placed on Him, what do you think?"
After an astonished glance at his wife, Buka said, "You mean Jesus is going to die?"
This week, Buka and other Hewas will hear John 3:16 as missionaries teach about Jesus and Nicodemus.
Pray that many will see that Jesus died because of His love for them.
"Praise the Lord the Holy Spirit is putting all the pieces together in Buka and Angele's minds and hearts. He is answering your prayers," Keith wrote.
