"I'm afraid!" Yoke excitedly said as he jumped to his feet. "If God is everywhere then He can see us and is watching us all day long. Everyone needs to hear this! I'm afraid!"
More people heard than missionaries expected last week. Some who said they were leaving the village decided to stay, and others who had previously left returned. Throughout the week the attendance of more than 60 thrilled the Hewa missionary team.
Missionaries Keith and Angie Copley and Jonathan and Susan Kopf see this as an answer to prayer.
For the past four weeks, Keith and Jonathan have been laying a foundation from the first chapters of Genesis and have been very encouraged by the people's responses.
After hearing the story of Adam and Eve's disobedience, Yoke said, "Just like they ate from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil back then, we continue to do that right up to the present day. We need to quit eating off of that tree of disobedience like our ancestors have done, and now eat off of the tree of life."
He held up a copy of the Scriptures and notes that had been printed for the lessons and said, "This is the tree of life that we need to eat from so that we can live forever."
Pray that the Hewas will understand God's Word and consume its truths.
This week they will hear the story of the flood and of the tower of Babel.
